Beth A. Byers
Beth A. Thompson Byers, 43, of Butler and formerly of Shippensburg, died Friday at Butler Memorial Hospital after an illness of seven months.
Born Nov. 19, 1961, in Chambersburg, she was the daughter of the late Charles E. "Shorty" and Peggy Emerick Thompson.
She attended schools in Shippensburg and Carlisle and earned a nursing assistant certificate from Cumberland County Nursing Home, where she worked as a CNA.
After moving to West Virginia, she worked as a home health aide for Home Care Plus, and as a nurse's assistant at Greenbriar Valley Medical Center, both in Lewisburg, W.Va. She moved to Butler two years ago.
Prior to her illness, she worked as a unit secretary at Butler Memorial Hospital.
She is survived by two daughters, Brandy E. Thompson of Altoona and Jennifer L. Byers of Butler; a grandson; a sister, Kay Y. Bear, of Newville; and two brothers, Jeffrey L. Thompson, of Chesapeake, Va., and Thomas V. Thompson, of Shippensburg. Ten nieces and nephews and a number of grandnieces and grandnephews also survive.
She was preceded in death by a brother.
BYERS - Funeral services for Beth A. Byers, who died Friday, May 6, 2005, will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday at the FOGELSANGER-BRICKER FUNERAL HOME, Shippensburg. The Rev. Robert L. Mentzer will officiate. Burial will be in Spring Hill Cemetery.
