Melissa Miller and Kevin Thompson, both of Overland Park, Kan., were united in marriage at 5:30 p.m. May 7 at the Atrium in Prospect. The bride's grandfather, the Rev. Robert Miller, officiated. A reception followed at the Atrium.

The bride is the daughter of Randy and Michele Miller of Chicora and Dave and Judy Blackwell of Butler. Parents of the bridegroom are John and Lynn Thompson of Boyers.

The maid of honor was Jamie Baughman of Butler. Bridesmaids included Sara Thompson of Boyers and Nicole Blackwell and Samantha Blackwell, both of Butler.

Performing the duties of best man was Mike Smith of Allison Park. Ushers included Matthew Miller, Cole Miller and Carl Thompson, all of Chicora.

The bride is a 1998 graduate of Karns City High School. She works at CARSTAR in Overland Park.

The groom graduated in 1996 from Moniteau High School. He works for Rebar in St. Joseph, Mo.

Following a honeymoon trip to the Sans Sauci Resort and Spa in Jamaica, the couple is residing in Overland Park.
