Bauer 50th anniversary
Harold and Betty Bauer of Butler will celebrate 50 years of marriage with a picnic from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday at 316 Cottonwood Drive, Butler, the home of their son-in-law and daughter, Kevin and Lori Fry.
The former Betty Ghent married Bauer on June 11, 1955, at the New York Avenue Presbyterian Church in Washington, D.C.
They have two children, Christopher Bauer of Jacksonville, Fla., and Loretta Fry of Butler. A son, Timothy Karl, is deceased. They also have three grandchildren.
Bauer is retired from the County of Butler. He performs music therapy in the assisted living facility at Concordia and is a life member of the U.S. Chess Federation.
Mrs. Bauer is retired from Concordia, where she worked as an office manager. She is a member of Writing Friends, Butler Reading Club, Caps for Kids and the Red Hat Society.
The couple belongs to Community Alliance Church, Butler Poetry Group and A.C.T.S. Choir. They also volunteer for chapel services at the Veteran's Affairs Medical Center.
Former members of their church choir, Mrs. Bauer works as the church librarian and Bauer serves as a library aide.
