Betty J. Sedwick

Betty J. Sedwick, 84, of Parker died Tuesday

of natural causes at UPMC Northwest in Seneca.

Born in Fertigs, Venango County, June 2, 1920, she was the daughter of Byron and Nora Perry Boocks.

She was an active member of the Church of God of Prophecy of Six Points, near Eau Claire.

A devout Christian, she worked with her husband in his lifelong ministry throughout Western Pennsylvania in the Church of God of Prophecy. She served for years as the head cook at summer youth camps at the Cowansville church location. She also was known for her lemon pies, which were a feature of the monthly fund-raising dinners at the church.

Mrs. Sedwick worked at the former Corso's Market in Parker for years. She later worked for the former W.A. Moyer & Sons Level Vial Works in Parker.

While a patient at Clarview Nursing & Rehabilitation Center in Sligo, she visited and prayed with other residents.

Surviving are three daughters, Mrs. Kenneth (June) McKee of Parker, Mrs. Bogan (Cookie) Gougher of Reno, Venango County, and Mrs. Richard (Darlene) Bowser of Parker; a brother, Dwight Boocks of Fertigs; seven grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.

She was married Aug. 7, 1939, to the Rev. Wilbert "Bill" Sedwick, who died April 21, 2001. Also preceding her in death were a son, a granddaughter, two sisters and two brothers.

SEDWICK - Friends of Betty J. Sedwick, who died Tuesday, May 3, 2005, may call from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. today at H. JACK BUZARD FUNERAL HOME, Wayne Street, Parker; and from 10 to 11 a.m. Friday at the Church of God of Prophecy in Six Points. Funeral services will follow at 11 a.m. Friday at the church with the Rev. C. Jay Croyle and the Rev. Jack Sallee officiating. Burial will be at Scrubgrass Cemetery.
