PENN TWP - The Succop Conservancy will sponsor the Outdoor Discovery Camps for Kids in cooperation with the Audubon Society beginning in June.

The three camps will offer environmental summer educational programs for preschool through third grade children.

All classes are taught by Audubon Society-trained teachers. The classes help children to respect nature and learn about the environment using the natural habitats at the conservancy.

The first camp is "Fledglings - Out of the Nest" scheduled from 9 a.m. to noon June 20 to 24 and is for 4 and 5 year olds.

The day camp will feature color plants, tall trees, aquatic bugs and farm animals. The children will get to plant a native garden on site. Parents are encouraged to join children for a naturalist-led hike at Beechwood Farms Nature Reserve. Light snacks and drinks are provided daily.

The second camp, "The Great Nature Hunt," is for kindergarten through first grade students and is from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. June 27 through July 1.

The camp features a scavenger hunt, explores meadows, fields, forests, ponds and streams. A visit to Todd Sanctuary and the planting of a native garden also will be featured. Daily snacks and drinks will be provided. A hot lunch will be served on July 1 only.

The third camp, "The Natural Mystery Tour," is from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. July 18 through 22 and is designed for second and third grade graduates.

The camp explores the subterranean world and includes a field trip to Todd Sanctuary. Snacks and drinks will be provided daily and a hot lunch will be included July 22 only.

The Succop Conservancy is at the corner of Route 8 and Airport Road, about seven miles south of Butler.
