Road race awards 36 scholarships
The Butler Road Race Inc. has announced the winners of its academic scholarships for the graduating class of 2005, the result of proceeds from last year's run.
The top female and male winners are Alison Metz of Moniteau High School and Raymond Melder of Butler High School. Both will receive scholarships of $1,500.
Eligibility requirements of grade-point average, cross country participation and their coach's nomination are met for consideration. The 17 member board of directors reviews the applications and votes to determine the scholarship winners.
In all, 36 student-athletes who applied this year will receive scholarships. In 12 years, the program has awarded 364 scholarships totaling $204, 850.

The annual Butler Road Race, presented by Butler Memorial Hospital, will take place Saturday, June 25. Proceeds will fund scholarship for the class of 2006.
