James R. Halm

James Richard Halm, 78, formerly of New Castle, Butler and Erie, died April 13 at his home in Falconer, N.Y.

Born April 9, 1927, in Erie, he was the son of Clem and Verle Halm.

Mr. Halm attended Erie High School and was an Army veteran of World War II.

He worked as a licensed practical nurse for 32 years, starting at the Erie Veterans Hospital and retiring from the Butler Veterans Hospital.

He was a member of the Kidder Memorial United Methodist Church and had attended the Ellington United Methodist Church.

Mr. Halm belonged to several New Castle camera clubs. He enjoyed camping and riding motorcycles.

Survivors include his wife, Nancy Neathery Halm, who he married Aug. 30, 1991, in Pittsburgh; a son, Donald Halm of Butler; a daughter, Adel Knapp of Kittanning; three step-daughters, Beth Mack of Harper's Ferry, W.Va.; Jennifer Hill of Front Royal, Va., and Janet Benegasi of Washington DC; two step-sons, Geoffrey Mack of Manassas, Va., and Peter Mack of Ocean City, N.Y.; and ten grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by a brother.

HALM -Friends of James Richard Halm, who died Wednesday April 13, 2005, will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Saturday at theFALCONER FUNERAL HOME, 44 W. Falconer St., Falconer, N.Y.Services will be at 2 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home. The Rev. Violet Davidson, pastor of the Kennedy United Methodist Church, and the Rev. Kenneth L. Huff, retired, will officiate.Memorials may be made to the Ellington United Methodist, Box 361 Ellington, NY 14732.
