The results of baseball and softball games, as well as other youth sporting events, can be called into the Butler Eagle sports department only between 7 and 10 p.m. Mondays through Fridays and 8 to 10 p.m. Sundays. The department is closed to phoned reports on Saturdays.

Reports can be sent by email to sports@butlereagle.com or by fax to 724-282-4180 at any time.

Correspondents are asked to provide league names, team names, winning score and the names of three outstanding players from each team for a total of six names.

Applications are available for the 30th annual Butler Road Race, a 5-mile run and 2K health walk slated for 9 a.m. June 25.The race starts and ends at the Butler County Courthouse. Proceeds provide academic scholarships for graduating cross country runners from the nine Butler County high schools.Applications are available at the Butler County Chamber of Commerce office, Pullman Commerce Center, Butler Memorial Hospital, Butler Area YMCA, Miller's Shoes, Moses Jewelers, Workingman's Store, Texas Roadhouse restaurant, by calling the Chamber at 724-283-2222, or by visiting www.butlerhealthsystem.org/brr.htm.

Tryouts have been scheduled for athletes interested in representing the Great Lake Region baseball teams in the 2005 Keystone State Games July 26-31 in York.Local tryouts for the junior division for players entering grades nine and 10 are 11 a.m. June 19 at the Butler County Community College baseball field.Tryouts for the scholastic division for those entering grades 11 and 12 are at 1:30 p.m. June 19 at the BC3 field.

Butler and Seneca Valley are hosting WPIAL boys volleyball playoff games today.Butler hosts South Park while Seneca Valley hosts Avonworth. Both games are at 7 p.m.
