5:29 p.m. Wednesday - An 8-year-old East Butler boy riding a bicycle and Blanche Mentzer, 42, of East Butler in her car were both traveling in an alley near Broadway Street in East Butler. The boy stopped and waited for the car to pass, at what police describe as a slow speed, when the boy lost his balance and fell of his bicycle. His hand landed under the driver's side rear tire. He was taken to Butler Memorial Hospital by ambulance where it was determined that he had suffered moderate injuries to his hand. No charges are expected to be filed.11:53 a.m. Wednesday - A truck driven by Glen Taylor, 60, of Reading went off of Mahood Road in Clay Township and hit an embankment. Police believe he could have suffered a medical emergency just before the accident.8:10 a.m. Wednesday - The left side mirror of a vehicle driven by Tina Moss of Hilliards was damaged when an unknown driver in a red car drove across the center line of Route 308, north of Brimstone Road in Cherry Township, and hit Moss' car. The unknown driver left.May 2 - Someone broke into and extensively damaged vending machines in Laura Doerr Park in Jefferson Township.May 2 - Mekis Construction in Fenelton reported someone stole a tank of welder's oxygen and a tank of welder's acetylene from its work site at the intersection of Fenelton and Irwin roads.May 2 - Jordan Weber of Fenelton reported someone entered his car on Carbon Center Road in Summit Township and stole a small amount of money.11:30 p.m. May 2 - Todd Shingleton of Slippery Rock reported someone stole a stereo and CD player and three speakers from a 1974 Datsun parked at 104 Holland Road in Brady Township.May 1 - Someone tried to pry open the doors to Bogacz Market, 568 Saxonburg Blvd., in Clinton Township. The door was damaged but not opened.3 p.m. May 1 - Robert Geisler of McKees Rocks reported someone broke into his summer trailer at 601 Hoot Owl Road in Connoquenessing Township by breaking the glass in the trailer door and then breaking three windows in a storage trailer.2:28 a.m. April 30 - Christopher L. McCracken, 27, of Freedom is charged with driving under the influence of a controlled substance after he was stopped on Route 528 near Stoney Batter Road in Prospect. He is also charged with possessing a small amount of marijuana and drug paraphernalia.March 23 - An unnamed 17-year-old boy was charged with possession of marijuana and paraphernalia at 133 Century St., Parker.
6:35 p.m. Tuesday - Frank S. Checho of Bangor, Pa., and Omar R. Fortune of Lansing, Mich., have been charged with possession of marijuana, possession of cocaine and possession of drug paraphernalia after they were stopped at milepost 25 westbound on Interstate 80 in Wolf Creek Township, Mercer County.
Wednesday - Donner M. Johnson, 41, of Jackson Street, Grove City, is charged with writing bad checks. Johnson wrote a check to the borough in March for $136. Charges were filed at District Judge Lawrence Silvis' office.3 a.m. Monday - A 12-speed bicycle valued at $100 was stolen from a South Broad Street home.2:30 a.m. Saturday - Alton Lumley, 53, of 743 E. Main St., Grove City, is charged with driving under the influence on South Center Street near Tidball Avenue. He was also cited for careless driving and limitations on driving on the left side of the road.April 28 - A 15-year-old male was taken into custody on the charges of possession of a weapon at the Grove City High School and theft from several vehicles in the Grove City area. He was placed in Keystone Shelter Care in Greenville.April 21 - A canoe valued at $200 was stolen from a home on Stewart Avenue between April 14 and April 21.8 p.m. April 18 - A hit and run was reported in the area of McConnell and North streets. Police are looking for a mid-1990s black Blazer driven by a middle-aged man. The vehicle allegedly chased a red Eagle Talon driven by Justin Hopkins, 18, of Barkeyville Road. Police are investigating the incident.April 18 - A 14-year-old juvenile was cited for having a loaded paintball gun in a vehicle. The gun had the propellant canister attached, which is illegal when the gun is being moved in a vehicle.11:30 a.m. April 13 - A basketball hoop valued at $250 was reported stolen from Pam Sykola's home at Woodland Avenue.6:17 p.m. April 11 - A Pontiac Grand Am driven by Patricia Johnson, 38, of 107 McEwen Lane, Slippery Rock, was traveling west on West Main Street when Johnson failed to stop at a traffic light at the intersection of South Center Street and struck a Chevy Blazer driven by Tanya Hipps, 30, of 1037 Barkeyville Road. The collision caused Hipps' vehicle to roll onto its roof. Hipps and two juvenile passengers were taken to United Community Hospital for minor injuries. Johnson also was taken to the hospital and treated for minor injuries. She was charged with a red light violation and careless driving.
