Leffler, Pickard lead Knoch rally in 6-5 win

Austin Leffler and Dan Pickard each hit home runs and drove in three as the Knoch High School baseball team rallied and then held on for a 6-5 win over Ellwood City Friday.

Pickard also picked up the win on the mound for the Knights (8-8, 4-6).

In other action:

Freeport's Mike Barch outdueled West Shamokin's Joe Vincini in a 3-0 Yellowjackets' win.

Barch pitched a three-hitter and struck out 11 while Vincini fanned 15 and scattered five hits. Kory Micholas hit a two-run homer and scored twice for Freeport.

Brandon Jones went 6-for-6 with a double and 2 RBI for Grove City in a doubleheader split with Franklin.

The Eagles (7-4, 5-2) dropped the first game 7-4 before winning the second game 6-5.

Jim Jaskowak picked up the save in relief of Andy Geibel in the nightcap for Grove City.
