Butler earns 1st win of season

Jim McCaslin struck out 10 batters in piching a complete-game four-hitter as the Butler baseball team picked up its first victory of the season, a 7-2 win over Kiski Area Friday.

Andy Onufrak and Aaron Ordy had two hits each for Butler (1-7, 1-3), which used a seven-run fourth inning to erase a 2-0 deficit.

In other action:

D.J. Cannon's bases-clearing double highlighted a seven-run seventh inning that propelled Mars to an 11-10 triumph over Ellwood City.

A 10-run fifth inning helped send Freeport to a 14-8 victory over Apollo-Ridge in a section victory.

Karns City 11, Freeport 10 (junior varsity) -

Saxon Parker homered, singled and earned the save for Karns City. Matt Stimac had three hits, including the game-winner, and Jeremy Bowser added three hits for the Gremlins.

Freeport had three hits apiece from N. Snyder and J.P. Smay.
