Cecelia Yauger, assistant executive director and director of special services for the Midwestern Intermediate Unit IV, Grove City, has been given the unit's 2005 Leadership Award.She was honored at an award ceremony on March 23.Yauger has been with the unit since 1978, serving in various roles. The unit serves 27 school districts in Butler, Mercer and Lawrence counties.She lives in Grove City with her husband, Michael, and her two children, Leah and John.Three members of the Lorraine Chapter of the Order DeMolay leadership and service organizations have been awarded the Past Master Councilor's Meritorious Service Award.The recipients were brothers

The Venture Club of North Pittsburgh, an international service organization for professional, working women, has expanded its Going Home Baskets program to Butler County.Going Home Baskets are diaper bags filled with newborn-sized disposable diapers, baby wipes, Onesies, hats, socks, sleepers and bottles.The diaper bags, about 50 of them, will be donated to Butler County Memorial Hospital's Expectant Parent Program. That program, a component of Family Services of the Butler Health System, supports more than 300 births each year to primarily, pregnant and parenting youth.The baskets have been an ongoing service project for the Venture Club of North Pittsburgh since the spring of 2004. Through donations and funds out of its service account, the club has provided the Social Service area of Allegheny General Hospital in Pittsburgh with 20 diaper bags over the course of three months in 2004.With the help of a $2,000 grant from Soroptomist International of Butler County added to funds raised by the Venture Club members, the club was able to extend the service project to Butler County.Venture club members will work with members of Butler's Soroptomists to buy and assemble the diaper bags. Walt Smith, a member of the Early Bird Toastmasters Club in Butler, was recently awarded first place in both the open speech and evaluation contests of the Area 6, District 13 Toastmasters International competition in New Castle.Second place in the open speech competition went to
