Lois M. Humphrey
Lois M. Humphrey, 94, of St. Cloud, Fla., died Wednesday afternoon at St. Cloud Hospital in St. Cloud.
Born May 31, 1910, in Concord Township, she was the daughter of Claude John and O. Maude Campbell Murtland.
A member of the Pennsylvania Association of Retired Teachers, she worked as a school teacher for more than 35 years in the Slippery Rock and Portersville Area Schools.
Mrs. Humphrey was also a member of the First Baptist Church of St. Cloud and a former member of Zion Baptist Church in Worth Township.
She married Glenn Grant Humphrey on May 28, 1932. He preceded her in death on October 27, 1985.
She later married Jennings Humphrey on October 10, 1986. He preceded her in death on March 2, 1992.
Surviving are two granddaughters, Donna Henderson of St. Cloud and Sue Farrell of Palm Bay, Fla., and five grandsons, Michael McDanel and his wife Teresa of St. Cloud; William McDanel and his wife Debbie of Melbourne, Fla.; Sydney Snyder and his wife Judy of Butler; and Doug Snyder and his wife Mimi, and Steve Snyder, all of Slippery Rock.
Also surviving are 11 great-grandchildren and five great-great-grandchildren.
In addition to both her husbands, she was preceded in death by two daughters, Betty Jane Snyder and Glenna McDanel; a stepson, Charles Ted Humphrey; two sisters, Dorothy Humphrey and Esther O'Kelley; a brother, Ford Murtland; and a great-great-grandson.
HUMPHREY - Friends of Lois M. Humphrey, who died Wednesday, March 2, 2005, will be received from 10 to 11 a.m. Tuesday at Zion Baptist Church, 148 Currie Road, Worth Township. Funeral services will follow at 11 a.m., officiated by the Rev. Thomas Meling. Burial will be in the Zion Baptist Church Cemetery.Arrangements are by SMITH FUNERAL HOME, 421 New Castle St., Slippery Rock.
