Union's Cody Mortimer scored 12 points to help the boys Blue squad defeat the White 98-96 Saturday night in the annual Kozel Classic all-star basketball game in DuBois.

Karns City's Tyler Callihan scored 10 points and Union's Adam Milanovich added seven for the White team.

On the girls side, Moniteau's Natalie DeMatteis scored six points and had three assists while A-C Valley's Cassie Morrison contributed four points in the Blue's 78-61 loss to the White.

Erin Claxton, a senior at Grove City College, was named the Presidents' Athletic Conference Track & Field Athlete of the Week.Claxton won the 10,000-meter run at the West Penn Championships at Carnegie Mellon with a meet-record time of 38 minutes, 40.6 seconds, breaking the old meet standard by more than 90 seconds. She also shattered the Wolverines school record (41:17) by more than 2½ minutes.

The Butler boys tennis team received singles wins from Ike Backstrom, Andrew Thompson and Wes Hortert as the Golden Tornado (5-1, 2-1) dominated Shaler Monday 5-0 in a Section 2-AAA showdown.SinglesIke Backstrom (B) def. Incorrect winners were given for two events in a report about the Karns City Relays in Sunday's Eagle.
