The deadline to nominate students for the Butler County Leaders of Tomorrow program is April 8.
The program, sponsored by Sprint and the
Butler Eagle, honors youth in grades seven through 12 for their leadership through community volunteerism, academic success and extracurricular activities.
Those nominated will be featured in a special section of the Butler Eagle and invited to attend a dinner and awards program in May. A $100 cash award will be given to finalists, with the first- place finalist receiving $1,000.
Nomination forms are available at the Butler Eagle office, high schools and via the Internet at www.butlereagle.com or www.leadersot.com.
Completed nomination forms should be sent to Butler County Leaders of Tomorrow, c/o Sprint, Theresa Brick, 218 S. Washington St., Butler, PA 16001.
RIMERSBURG - Union High School's production of "HONK!" will be staged at 7:30 p.m. Thursday and Friday at the high school on Baker Street.Tickets in advance cost $4 for adults, $3 for students and $2 for children age 12 and younger. At the door, tickets will be $5 for adults and students and $2.50 for children. <B>David Wood</B> of Butler was recently presented with the Outstanding Young Alumni Award at Brigham Young University-Idaho.The current director of the Butler Veterans Affairs Medical Center, he is a fellow in the American College of Healthcare Executives and has been active in state and regional hospital associations.<B>The Butler County Children's Center</B>, which has been recognized as a Star Two child care center by the Keystone Stars program, is currently working towards achieving a Star Three level.Based on a four-star rating system, child care centers are recognized for child safety, health and educational standards that exceed the state minimum regulations.
