Stella McCandless of Butler, celebrated her 90th birthday with a family dinner at the Runway Restaurant in Penn Township.

The former Stella Measel was born March 11, 1915, in Connoquenessing. She married Howard McCandless on Dec. 15, 1934. He is deceased.

She has five children, Howard McCandless Jr. of Sarver, Twila Stewart of North Carolina, Robert McCandless of Renfrew and Judie Neill and Ronald McCandless, both of Butler. Another son, Gary McCandless, is deceased.

She also has nine grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren and a great-great-grandchild.

Mrs. McCandless is a homemaker. She also worked at Hutchinson's for 10 years.

She is a member of Faith Lutheran Church.
