Brianne Jerpe, 9, of Slippery Rock won a gold medal in footwork and silver in two other events at the Pennsylvania State Games in York Feb. 19 and 20.

Her sister, Amanda, 4, won two gold medals during an event at Robert Morris University's Island Sports Arena last Saturday.

Both girls skate at Hess Ice Rink in New Castle.

Grove City College senior guard Abby Moose was named to the D3hoops.com All-Great Lakes Region Basketball third team.The former Portersville Christian student led GCC in scoring with 17.8 points per game, steals with 63 and 3-pointers with 34. Her 1,209 career points rank fifth on the Wolverines' all-time list and she is the program's all-time leader with 172 3-point goals and 228 steals.

PITTSBURGH - The Pittsburgh Steelers open their exhibition schedule with consecutive home games, including a nationally televised Monday night game against the Philadelphia Eagles Aug. 15.The Steelers remain at home on Saturday, Aug. 20 to play the Miami Dolphins in a 7:30 p.m. game. They play another nationally televised game at Washington on Friday, Aug. 26, then close the preseason the following weekend at Carolina.The date of the Panthers' game will be announced later.The Eagles' game starts at 8 p.m. and will be shown on ESPN, while the Redskins' game will be an 8 p.m. start on Fox. The other two games will be shown in the Pittsburgh area on KDKA-TV.
