Wayne E. Waddington

Wayne E. Waddington, 88, formerly of Harrisville and for the last four months a resident of Cardinal Village Retirement Community in Sewell, N.J., died at 11:30 p.m. Monday at Kennedy Memorial Hospital in Washington Township, N.J.

Born in Dover, Ohio, Jan. 14, 1917, he was a son of William E. and Erma C. Stiffler Waddington.

He retired in 1991 as the director of the office of personnel management retirement operations center in Boyers, where he had been employed since 1960. He had been employed by the federal government for more than 50 years.

He was a 1935 graduate of New Philadelphia High School, New Philadelphia, Ohio. He had also earned as associate's degree in business.

He was a member of Harrisville United Methodist Church and Harrisville Lions Club.

He was an Army veteran of World War II, serving in the Pacific theater.

Surviving are two daughters, Joy A. Drilling and her husband, John, of Baton Rouge, La., and Wynn E. Hammond and her husband, Dennis, of Mantua, N.J.; a brother, Robert Waddington of New Philadelphia; three grandsons; and four great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Doris P. Foute Waddington, whom he married Sept. 4, 1940, and who died Sept. 21, 1995.

WADDINGTON - Friends of Wayne E. Waddington, who died Monday, Feb. 7, 2005, will be received from 7 to 9 p.m. Friday at JAMISON FUNERAL HOME, 117 N. Main St., Harrisville. Graveside services will be at 1 p.m. Saturday at Evergreen Cemetery in New Philadelphia.Memorial contributions may be made to Harrisville United Methodist Church, P.O.
