Beth Hamilton, a graduate of Seneca Valley High School, was named to the West Penn Collegiate Conference all-conference basketball team.
Hamilton plays for CCAC-Boyce and led the team in scoring, rebounds, steals and assists. She also has been nominated for the NJCAA all-region team.
Ryan Christy of Butler captured first place in the handicap jackpot division of the Pepsi Cola Monster XXXIX Tournament Saturday at Seneca Lanes.Christy bowled a 289 to win the division.
Three Slippery Rock University basketball players received All-PSAC West honors for their play this season.Stacey Green, a senior forward on the women's team, gained first-team honors by averaging 12.4 points and 8.9 rebounds per game. She finished her career No. 3 on SRU's career rebounding list with 937 and No. 7 on its scoring list with 1,329 points.Senior guard Bill Johnson and junior forward Glenn Reepmeyer gained second-team honors on the men's side. Johnson was fourth in the PSAC with 17.7 points per game and was fourth in all of Division II basketball with an 87.8 free throw shooting percentage. He drained 63 3-pointers and led the league with 2.04 steals per game.Reepmeyer averaged 14.5 points and 8.1 rebounds per game. He shot 77 percent from the foul line.
Area Keystone Shortway Athletic Conference basketball players have been selected to play in the sixth annual Alice R. Kozel Foundation District 9 All-Star Games April 2 at DuBois Area Middle School.The girls game begins at 5 p.m., the boys game at 7. Admission is $5 for adults, $1 for students.Area boys in the game are Cody Mortimer and Adam Milanovich of Union, Tyler Callihan of Karns City and John Piecenski of A-C Valley. Karns City's Steve Andreassi and Union's Karen Davis are among the coaches.Natalie DeMatteis of Moniteau and Cassie Morrison of A-C Valley are playing in the girls game. Josh Meeker of Union and Mark Yeager of Moniteau are among the coaches.
