Saturday - Someone smashed lights, valued at $150 each, on top of a pair of brick pillars at the Paracca home on Mekis Road. The vandalism occurred Friday night or Saturday morning.Noon Thursday - An unknown black man is accused of taking a 1-inch air winch, valued at $700, from Groff Tractor and Equipment on Route 8.Employees told police the man, who was wearing a blue sweatshirt, was seated in a waiting room at the business for some time before he took the winch and drove off, headed south on Route 8, in a silver Chevrolet Lumina.
11:28 p.m. Monday - A car driven by Gymme Mathe, 47, of Center Township traveled off Route 38 and Hendricks Road in Summit Township and struck a ditch. Mathe, who was wearing a seat belt, was taken to Butler Memorial Hospital with back and neck injuries.5:05 p.m. Monday - Sharon Dittrich, 50, of Jackson Center, Mercer County, swerved her van to avoid a car that had crossed into her lane on Route 8 near Ralston Road in Slippery Rock Township. The van traveled off the road and into a field where it struck a storage van owned by Fallow Trucking.The car, driven by Dennis Claypoole Jr., 23, of Grove City, meanwhile, traveled over an embankment. Police said the crash occurred when Claypoole apparently fell asleep at the wheel. Police said he faces several undisclosed traffic violations.12:45 p.m. Monday - Police are investigating a threatening note that was found in the lunchroom at the Slippery Rock Middle School in Slippery Rock Township. The note threatened the life of a 13-year-old girl who is a student at the school. Police and school administrators have questioned three students - a 14-year-old girl and two 13-year-old girls - about the note.9:45 a.m. Monday - A pickup truck driven by James Longan, 56, of New Castle and a mini-van driven by Dolores Hagerman, 53, of Butler collided at Route 8 and Sunset Drive in Center Township. Longan was cited for failing to yield the right of way at a stop sign.Monday - A bottle of prescription medication, two pairs of shoes and $50 were taken between 8:30 a.m. and 1:30 p.m. in a burglary at a Saxonburg Boulevard home in Clinton Township. Beverly Mehringer of Saxonburg owns the stolen property.Sunday - An unidentified man is being sought for shoplifting nine pairs of blue jeans at the JC Penney store, Clearview Mall in Center Township.The suspect, described as white, between 25 and 30 years old, about 5 feet. 10 inches tall and 170 pounds, with brown hair, was confronted by store security in the parking lot and taken back into the store. However, he became uncooperative and ran out of the store.He was last seen wearing a blue Nautica fleece pullover, blue jeans and a blue ball cap. Anyone with information about the case is asked to call the barracks at 724-284-8100.4:35 p.m. Saturday - A pickup truck driven by Tami Robinson. 39, of Connoquenessing struck the rear of a car on Route 68 in Forward Township. Robinson was cited for driving too fast for conditions. Edward Lehnerd Jr., 48, of Cabot, was driving the car.Saturday - Jennifer Reese of Evans City said her silver, 1991 Mercury Cougar was taken between midnight and 8:45 a.m. from the driveway of a Prospect Road home in Forward Township. The car has the Pennsylvania license plate FWT2247.Feb. 23 - Courtney McFeathers, 26, of Forestville is accused of stealing, forging and cashing checks owned by four victims - three of whom live in northern Butler County. Police said McFeathers also wrote numerous checks on her own closed account. The thefts and forgery date back to December.McFeathers is charged with four counts each of forgery and theft by deception, and three counts of bad checks.
5:14 p.m. Monday - Roy Anthony, no age given, of Rimersburg was arrested for suspicion of driving under the influence after his car collided with another car driven by Shane Everett, no age given, of Rimersburg, on Lawsonham road in Madison Township, Clarion County.11:22 a.m. Sunday - Michael Reedy, 27, of Rimersburg was arrested for suspicion of driving under the influence on Huey Road in Rimersburg.
