Herbert and Arlene Johnson of Norton, Ohio, will celebrate 60 years of marriage on Thursday.

The former Arlene Shakely married Johnson on March 3, 1945, at St. Paul's United Church of Christ in Butler.

Johnson is retired from Babcock and Wilcox in Barberton, Ohio. He is a member of the Barberton Masonic Lodge 750 and the Order of the Eastern Star, Jeannette Chapter, for which he served as grand chaplain in 1980.

Mrs. Johnson is retired from Ohio Bell Telephone. She also worked for Peoples Telephone. She is also a member of the Order of the Eastern Star, Jeannette Chapter. She is a past grand matron of the Grand Chapter of Ohio and the 1988 worthy grand matron of Ohio.

The couple belongs to the First Presbyterian Church of Barberton.
