Robert C. Dumbaugh
Robert Charles "Bob" Dumbaugh, 63, of Butler died at 4:30 p.m. Wednesday at his home after at 16-month battle with cancer.
Born July 5, 1941, in Butler, he was the son of the late Robert Russell Dumbaugh and Mildred Mae Johnston Dumbaugh.
He was a graduate of Butler High School. Immediately after high school, he joined the Pennsylvania Army National Guard in June 1959 and served until January 1964.
On Nov. 1, 1964, he completed his apprenticeship and became a journeyman electrician, repairer and winder. He went on to work as an electro-mechanical power transmission equipment sales, service and application specialist at Dumbaugh Electric for 40 years. He retired Dec. 1, 2003.
Mr. Dumbaugh was a member of Alcoholics Anonymous and celebrated 21 years of sobriety on Sept. 10, 2004. He willingly shared his experience, strength and hope with others and extended unconditional love and acceptance to all.
He enjoyed being outdoors, camping, hiking, spending time with family and friends and spoiling his grandchildren.
Surviving are two previous wives, Lois J. Filges Bell, with whom he had three children; and Patricia L. Haupt Dumbaugh. They both remained an important part of his life. Also surviving are two daughters, Mrs. Rodney (Gretchen) St. Clair of Butler and Mrs. Joseph (Donna) Patterson of Saxonburg; two sons, Eric Dumbaugh and his wife, Angela, of Carbon Center, and Erin Dumbaugh and his wife, Karen, of Chicora; eight grandchildren, Brandy Lane and Amanda Dumbaugh, Scarlett St. Clair, Robert II, Abagail, Phillip and Luke Dumbaugh, and Brooke Patterson; and a ninth grandchild on the way.
Also surviving are two sisters, Mrs. Glen (Janet) Lutz of New Wilmington and Mrs. Willis (Lynda S.) Mohan of Butler, and numerous nieces and nephews.
DUMBAUGH - Friends of Robert Charles "Bob" Dumbaugh, who died Wednesday, Jan. 26, 2005, will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Friday at YOUNG FUNERAL HOME, 127 W. Jefferson St. Services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at the funeral home with the Rev. David Roddy, pastor of Saxonburg Memorial Presbyterian, Church officiating.
