A May 7 wedding is being planned by Butler residents Cathy Shanor and Jared Vance.

The bride-to-be is the daughter of Paul and Peggy Shanor of Butler. Parents of the prospective bridegroom are James and Bonnie Vance of Logan, W.Va.

The bride-elect is a 1998 graduate of Butler High School and a 2004 graduate of the West Virginia University School of Pharmacy where she received a doctorate in pharmacy. She works at Eckerd in Butler.

Her fiancé graduated from Logan High School in 1998 and from West Virginia University in 2003, receiving a bachelor of arts degree in chemistry and a bachelor of science degree in forensic chemistry. He is pursuing a master's degree in education at Slippery Rock University. He currently works as a forensic chemist in the trace evidence lab for the West Virginia State Police.
