Betty Jane Morris

Mrs. Betty Jane Morris, 81, a resident at Concordia Lutheran Ministries for three years, formerly of Portersville, died at 3 a.m. Saturday in the Concordia Lutheran Home.

Born in Coalport, on June 3, 1923, she was the daughter of John Miles and Esther Nedimyer Miles.

Mrs. Morris and her husband, the Rev. Joseph B. Morris, who died on April 18, 1994, served in the ministry at the Portersville Christian & Missionary Alliance Church for 48 years in addition to serving at several other churches. They were at the church when the Portersville Christian School was started.

She is survived by three sons, Joseph B. Morris of Volant, Dennis K. Morris of Portersville and Jeffrey T. Morris of Grove City, and one daughter, Jandice Lee Morris of Polk.

Also surviving are six grandchildren; five sisters, Florene Pitcock of Orville, Ohio, Mrs. Charles (Luella) Desmett of Tallmadge, Ohio, Mrs. Twila Smeyers of Irvona, Pa., Mrs. Bud (Vivian) Michaels of Barnsboro, Pa., and Mrs. (Ray) Dona Gilham of State College; four brothers, John Miles Jr. of Irvona, Floyd Miles of Coalport, Roger Miles of Irvona, and Jerry Miles of Coalport, and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by two brothers.

MORRIS - Family and friends of Mrs. Betty Jane Morris, who died Saturday, Jan. 22, 2005, will be received at the THOMPSON-MILLER FUNERAL HOME INC. from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. on Monday Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at The Faith Fellowship Alliance Church 200 Faithway-Fared Dr., Butler, with the Rev. Richard Jenks of Faith Fellowship Alliance Church and Rev. Paul Cope of The Mar's Christian and Missionary Aliance Church officiating. Interment will follow in The Fairview Cemetery LaJose, Pa.
