Jane 'Jean' Siar

Jane "Jean" Siar, 87, of Cadogan, Armstrong County, died Monday at Sunnyview Nursing Home.

Born May 30, 1917, in Timblin, Jefferson County, she was the daughter of Bruno and Catherine Casmano Stello.

She was a lifelong resident of the Cadogan area and was well known for her baked bread and buns. She retired from Friedman's Foodland in Ford City and was a former Democratic committee woman. She enjoyed crocheting, playing Cootie and cards and was a Pittsburgh Pirates fan.

Mrs. Siar was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church, where she belonged to the choir for 30 years.

Surviving are a son, retired Navy Lt. Cmdr. Richard Kenneth Siar Jr. of San Antonio, Texas; a nephew, Jim Siar of Pennsylvania, whom she raised; a daughter, Joanne Pintell of Cadogan; brothers, Frank Stello of Ford City, Anthony and James Stello, both of Punxsutawney, Sante Stello of Gibsonia, Joseph Stello of Palm Dale, Calif., and Dominic Stello of Rochester, N.Y.; and two sisters, Margaret Schena of Cadogan and Josephine Abraham of El Paso, Texas. Also surviving are six grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.

Her husband, Richard Kenneth Siar Sr., died in 1984. She was preceded in death by a daughter; two brothers, and two sisters.

<B>SIAR</B> - Friends of Jane "Jean" Siar, who died Monday, Jan. 17, 2005, will be received from 7 to 9 p.m. today and from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday at MANTINI FUNERAL HOME, 701 Sixth Ave., Ford City. A prayer service will be held at 10:30 a.m. Thursday at the funeral home. Services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at St. John's Lutheran Church, Ford City, with the Rev. Andy Dougherty officiating.
