"Die Fledermaus," a full three-act operetta sung in English, will be presented at 8 p.m. tonight and Saturday at Succop Theater on the Butler County Community College campus.

Tickets for the show are $15. A dessert reception is included in the price of the Friday ticket. A dinner on Saturday is an additional $15. Both are being prepared and served by BC3 hospitality management students. The Saturday dinner is at 6 p.m. in the Convocation Center on campus.

The Independent Film Channel has announced it will co-sponsor with DIRECTV and The Butler Penn Theater Community Trust a free viewing of the televised Independent Spirit Awards on Feb. 26 at the Penn Theater, 147 N. Main St.The Independent Spirit Awards honors independent filmmakers and will be televised throughout the world.DIRECTV facilitated this event by providing the equipment necessary since IFC is not available on the local cable system.This is the second time IFC and The Butler Penn Theater Community Trust have conducted a joint effort. In December, they co-sponsored the Butler Film Festival of original and diverse films for the Butler community.Doors will open at 4 p.m. The 20th annual Independent Spirit Awards will begin at 5 p.m. Seating is first come, first served and is limited to theater capacity. PITTSBURGH - Improvisatory pianist Jacqueline Schwab, whose work can be heard on 11 of filmmaker Ken Burns' documentaries, will play a solo concert at 8 p.m. March 10 at the Frick Fine Arts auditorium at the University of Pittsburgh.The program will include Stephen Foster and Civil War songs, vintage ballroom dances, traditional Scottish and Irish music, hymns and spirituals, and ragtime. She may also venture further afield and include some early 20th century tangos, bluesy Billie Holiday ballads, and her own signature flights of fancy on traditional English dance tunes.Tickets are $12 for adults and $8 for students with ID and will be available at the door.

PITTSBURGH - The Carnegie Science Center, next to Heinz Field on the North Side, will host National Engineers Weekend today and Saturday.The schedule includes hands-on activities from 10 am to 5 p.m. both days.Admission to the entire science center is $14 for adults and $10 for senior citizens age 62 and older and children 3 to 18.
