3:53 p.m. Monday - Aaron Allen, 31, of 406 S. Sixth Ave. was charged with driving under the influence, careless driving and criminal mischief after he collided with a vehicle driven by Carolyn Rottman, 61, of Petrolia on Pillow Street.12:30 p.m. Monday - Gregory Staab, 38, of 215 Mercer St. was arrested and charged with simple assault following a fight with his live-in girlfriend.City police found Dorotha Turner, 35, crying and with bruises after they were called to the couple's home. Turner told police her boyfriend received an e-mail from another woman. Turner said she became upset when she saw Staab e-mail pictures of the couple's children to the woman.Turner confronted Staab, which caused him to become agitated. He followed her upstairs where he grabbed her by the hair and pulled some out of her head. He also struck her in the face with a closed fist and kicked her in the leg.Staab was arraigned by District Judge Sue Haggerty and was released from Butler County Prison on $3,000 bond.
4:52 p.m. Friday - Matthew Brent Cleland, 47, of Harmony was arrested for driving under the influence of alcohol following a minor accident in which he apparently struck the driver's side mirror of a vehicle that was parked on North Main Street. Police were called to the Northgate Plaza after Cleland would not provide the proper information to the driver of the vehicle he had struck. Police said Cleland failed a blood-alcohol test at the scene and was later given a blood test at the Ellwood City Hospital.2:10 p.m. Feb. 8 - An employee of Equity Residence, who was doing routine maintenance at the Woodlawn Apartments off Route 68 in Zelienople, found a small shopping bag in the middle of a small creek that flows near 700 Woodlawn Drive. The bag contained numerous 8-inch by 10-inch sheets of white paper on which counterfeit bills were printed. Police said the bills appeared to be scanned by computer and printed on the paper. The paper was wet and the ink on the bills began to run. The police notified the U.S. Secret Service for further investigation.
3:20 p.m. Monday - Vehicles driven by Eva Bartholomew, no age given, of Butler and a 17-year old juvenile from Kittanning collided on Clearfield Road in Clearfield Township.According to state police Bartholomew failed to yield the right of way and was cited. Both drivers were wearing a seatbelt and neither one was injured.
7:10 p.m. Monday - Mark Hughes, no age given, of Volant told police a white van rounded a corner and struck him as he stood in the parking lot near the entrance of the Wal-Mart in Pine Township. The impact caused Hughes to fall to the ground and injure his elbow. Hughes told police the van then left the parking lot in an unknown direction. Two witnesses confirmed it was a white van that struck Hughes. Anyone with any information is asked to call state police in Mercer at 724-662-6162.1:50 p.m. Thursday - Richard Baker, no age given, of Slippery Rock lost control of his vehicle on Interstate 79 in Springfield Township. The vehicle went into the medial strip and rolled over. Baker was wearing a seatbelt and was not injured.
