Sunday - An unidentified vehicle between noon Saturday and 4:20 p.m. Sunday struck a pickup truck parked on East Penn Street and did not stop following the crash. Nathan Rodgers of Butler owns the pickup.Wednesday - Tyler D. Smith, 19, of 146 Kaufman Drive was arrested for allegedly stealing about $3,000 in jewelry, owned by his mother, and later selling it between June and December to a local jewelry store. Smith, who was already in the Butler County Prison on unrelated charges, was arraigned for theft and receiving stolen property. He remains jailed in lieu of $4,000 bond.11:05 a.m. Jan. 31 - Cars driven by Laurie Cornelius, 39, of Harrisville and Heather Shultz, 28, of Chicora collided on Belmont Road. Both drivers were cited for driving too far over the centerline while traveling in opposite directions rounding a bend in the road.

5:50 a.m. Sunday - A Summit Academy student escaped from the Herman Road facility in Summit Township. The boy, whom police did not identify, was caught less than 2 hours later.5 p.m. Saturday - Dennis Peterman Jr., 20, of Butler and a 14-year-old girl, whom police did not identify, were arrested for allegedly taking nearly $205 in jewelry from the Boscov's store at Clearview Mall in Center Township.Both suspects are charged with retail theft and conspiracy. Additionally, Peterman is charged with corruption of minors and the girl is charged with receiving stolen property.3:43 p.m. Saturday - A car driven by Mildred Cochran, 73, of Gibsonia, Allegheny County and a pickup truck driven by Garnett Burrows, 22, of Center Township collided at Route 68 and Whitestown Road in Connoquenessing Township. Burrows, who was wearing a seat belt, suffered minor injuries. Cochran, who also wore a seat belt, was cited for a traffic signal violation.4:35 a.m. Saturday - Shawn Welker, 21, of Karns City is accused of taking a vehicle at a Kittanning Pike home in Karns City. Police said Welker later wrecked on Route 268 and ran from the crash site. Richard Collier of East Brady, Clarion County, owns the car.Friday - Several mailboxes were reported stolen Thursday or Friday from homes in Fairview, Concord and Parker townships.Eight of the mailboxes were later found at the Fairview Township building. All but three of the mailboxes were returned to their owners.The three unclaimed boxes are described as brown wood with a post attached; black plastic without a door; and black metal with the numbers 234. The owners can claim the property at the Butler barracks.6:20 p.m. Dec. 27 - Daniel Mikula, 48, of West Sunbury was charged with driving under the influence after his car struck a utility pole along Route 38 in Oakland Township.
