Anthony ‘Pap’ Fischer
Anthony J. “Pap” Fischer, 74, of Cranberry Township died Tuesday at UPMC Passavant, Cranberry Township.
Born Nov. 7, 1930, in Gibsonia, he was the son of Anthony G. and Theresa Wittman Fischer.
He had been a heavy equipment operator and was a 45-year member of Operating Engineers Local 66.
Mr. Fischer had served in the National Guard and was a member of the American Legion Post 474 of Zelienople. He also was a 50-year life member of the Harmony Moose Lodge 957, a social member of the Evans City VFW Post 499 and a member of the National Pike, Steam, Gas & Horse Association. He was also a member of St. Matthias Roman Catholic Church, Evans City.
In addition to his wife, Lillian A. Fischer; he is survived by seven children: Ralph A. Fischer and his wife, Donna Gail Kneiss, of Evans City; Loretta A. Hayday and her husband, Art, of Humble, Texas; Mary “Jane” Polochak and her husband, Allen, of Portersville; Betty Rose Fischer, Bertha Mae “Bert” Barkley and her husband, Marty and Joann Marie Rader and her husband, John, all of Zelienople; and Rosemary A. “Kid” Poole and her husband, Jim, of Cranberry Township; 14 grandchildren, Jennifer Yancy, Wendy, Michelle and Jeffrey Polochak, Tony and Michael Fischer, Justin, Jacqueline and Joshua Rader, Heather and Tyler Poole and Maria, Patrick and Eric Hayday; and five great-grandchildren, Dominic Polochak, Alex, Samantha and Austin Fischer and Aiden Yancy.
A sister, Caroline Kolesar of Midland; and a brother, George Fischer of Butler, also survive.
A brother, Richard C. Fischer, preceded him in death.
FISCHER — Friends of Anthony J. “Pap” Fischer, who died Tuesday, Dec. 28, 2004, will be received from 7 to 9 p.m. today and from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday at GLENN-KILDOO FUNERAL HOME & CREMATION SERVICES, 130 Wisconsin Ave., Cranberry Township. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Friday at St. Alphonsus Catholic Church, 201 Church Road, Wexford.
