Sophomore pole vaulter Melanie Buczko was named Bucknell' University's Bison Athlete of the Week after clearing the NCAA provisional qualifying standard at the Buucknell Heptagonal Saturday.

Buczko, a graduate of Butler High School, cleared 12 feet, 11½ inches to earn the victory in the event and to set new school and facility records.

The first-place finish is Buczko's fourth in as many indoor meets. She broke her own school standard of 12-10 set earlier this season.

Albright College senior forward Ben Gallagher led the team in scoring in a pair of victories last week to move the Lions into first place in the Commonwealth Conference.Albright, a graduate of Butler High School, had 14 points and a team-high six rebounds in an 83-67 victory over Moravian. On Saturday, he had 19-points and nine rebounds in an 81-65 decision over Juniata.Gallagher, who was named to the MAC men's basketball honor roll for his effort, is averaging 12.2 points and 6.1 rebounds for the 11-5 Lions.
