Brenda Huffman of Butler Township and Dan Hempfling of Center Township have announced their engagement. A wedding date has not been set.

The bride-to-be is the daughter of Bill and Juanita Huffman of California and Al and Sharon Gatz of Summit Township. Parents of the prospective bridegroom are Naomi Hempfling of Prospect and the late Curtis "Whitey" Hempfling.

The bride-elect graduated in 1983 from Butler High School and earned an Early Childhood Education Certificate in 1994 from Montgomery County Community College. She is a homemaker.

Her fiancé graduated in 1983 from BHS and received an associate of arts degree from the Pennsylvania Technical Institute in 1994. In 1986 he received an honorable discharge from the Army airborne division. He is currently pursuing a bachelor's degree in electrical engineering at the University of Pittsburgh. He works for Armstrong in Butler.
