Irene H. Nichols

Irene H. Nichols, 84, of 160 E. Brewster Road in Center Township died at 5:14 p.m. Saturday at her home.

Born in Connoquenessing, Jan. 17, 1920, she was the daughter of Charles E. and Irene H. Duncan Fehl.

She was a homemaker and enjoyed cooking and sewing.

Mrs. Nichols was a member of The First Baptist Church, where she belonged to the Berean Sunday School Class, the Women's Missionary Fellowship, the choir and the missions' board. She also taught J.O.Y. clubs and the Primary Children's Sunday School Class.

Surviving are three daughters, Mrs. Ronald (Judy A.) Hemphill of Butler, Mrs. Dennis (Delores I.) Rood of North Canton, Ohio, and Mrs. Samuel (Debra J.) Broad of Butler, with whom she made her home; seven grandchildren; and 19 great-grandchildren. She also is survived by three sisters, Mrs. Betty Shields, Mrs. Ella Dean and Mrs. Diane Fennell, all of Butler; and a number of nieces and nephews.

Her husband, John H. Nichols, whom she married March 2, 1940, died Aug. 15, 1996. Two sisters and five great-grandchildren also preceded her in death.

NICHOLS - Friends of Irene H. Nichols, who died Saturday, Dec. 18, 2004, will be received from 7 to 9 p.m. today and from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday at THOMPSON-MILLER FUNERAL HOME, 124 E. North St. Services will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday at First Baptist Church with the Rev. David Maitland officiating. Burial will be at Butler County Memorial Park, Butler Township.Memorial donations may be made to First Baptist Church, 221 W.
