Helen Hrip Balog

Helen Hrip Balog, 94, passed away peacefully on Wednesday at the Carlisle Regional Medical Center in Carlisle.

Born July 16, 1910, in Butler, she was one of nine children of Michael and Anna Bungar Adamosky. She is survived by her brother, George Adamosky of Butler.

She lived in Butler until July 2003, when she moved to the Church of God Nursing Home in Carlisle.

Mrs. Balog was the widow of Andrew Hrip, who died Jan. 31, 1951, and of George Balog, who died Feb. 27, 1987.

She was a lifetime member of St. John the Baptist Byzantine Catholic Church in Lyndora. She enjoyed playing golf, primarily at the former Armco Park Country Club, and also belonged to several bridge clubs.

Her family will lovingly remember her. She was a wonderful mother and grandmother to her son, Rick Hrip, his wife, Sue, and sons, Andrew and Max, all of Mechanicsburg; her daughter, Winnie McGee, who preceded her in death, and former husband, Ed, and sons, Bill and Greg, all of Butler; her stepdaughter, Shirley Smith, and her husband, Fred, and children, Fred, Michael, Mary Beth and Amy, all of Natrona Heights; and two great-grandchildren and seven step-great-grandchildren.

<B>BALOG</B> - Friends of Helen Balog, who died Wednesday, Dec. 15, 2004, will be received from 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday at YOUNG FUNERAL HOME, Butler. Divine Liturgy will be held at 10 a.m. Monday in St. John the Baptist Byzantine Catholic Church, 105 Kohler Ave. The Rev. Dennis Bogda will officiate.Parastas service will be held at 6 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home. Interment will be in Rose Hill Cemetery.In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Church of God Nursing Home, 801 North Hanover St., Carlisle, PA 17013.Information is also available at www.youngfuneralhomes.com.
