Planets set on Valley, 63-37

Julie Utz had 15 points and five assists and Taryn Adamski added 14 points and eight steals to lead the Mars girls basketball team to a 63-37 section victory over Valley Monday.

Maggie Bulman added 11 rebounds for Mars (13-4, 8-1).

Casey Sawhook led the Vikings with a game-high 17 points.

Butler's Brian McCandless captured the high jump and teammate John Strutt was second in the 800-meter run at an open high school track meet at Slippery Rock University over the weekend.Other boys medalists for Butler included Adam Pritts (shot put), Josh Cable, Brian Wiley and Chris Henry in the 3,200 relay and Mike Fisher, Doug Moran, Sean Colonna and Dan D'Amore in the 800 relay.The Tornado boys and girls team will return to action Jan. 30 at Kent State University.
