RELIGIOUS ROUNDUP

BUTLER CHURCH OF THE NAZARENE

Krystal McIndoe and Amber Reckner will provide music for the 10:45 a.m. Sunday service at Butler Church of the Nazarene, 4410 Oakdale Road and Route 68.

The 40 Days Communication Committee will meet at 7:30 p.m. today at the home of chairman, Gary Petrie.

A supply of large styrofoam plates for special events is being requested during the month of January.

Hand towels are being collected for Crisis Care Kits for the compassionate ministries. A donation basket is located in the church foyer.

To participate in the 40 Days Drama Group, contact Gordon Thompson or Millie Martsolf as soon as possible.

CHRIST COMMUNITY U.M.

His Productions, the drama group of Christ Community United Methodist Church, 205 N. Duffy Road, will hold a planning session at 7:30 p.m. today in Oz Hall. Interested new members are invited. Refreshments will follow.

The Rev. Mary Grey Emmett, recently retired pastor of First United Methodist Church ofMurrysville and district superintendent of the Butler District from 1994 through 1999, will lead weekend services.

An informational and planning meeting for all youth and adults participating in the Dominican Republic mission trip will be held at 5 p.m. Sunday. All youth attending must be accompanied by a parent. The penny collection to assist the mission team will be held weekly. Donations may also be made on the church Giving Tree.

The trustees will hold their reorganization meeting at 7 p.m. Tuesday.

Contributions are still being collected for the South Asia Emergency Fund for tsunami relief. Donations may be made through church offerings or by credit card at christcommunityumc.org or methodistrelief.org.

COVENANT PRESBY

The Kids in Christ Klub for pre-school through 6th grade children at Covenant Presbyterian Church, 230 E. Jefferson St., will begin Sunday and meet every Sunday from 4 to 6 p.m. through May 15.

The Rev. Michael Winship will lead the Seekers Class, which meets at 9:45 a.m. Sunday in the Assembly Room.

The food cupboard is collecting spaghetti and spaghetti sauce during January. Collection baskets are at the Jefferson Street entrance.

FAITH FELLOWSHIP

New ministry school classes begin at 6 p.m. Sunday at Faith Fellowship Alliance Church, 200 Faithway-Fared Drive. Classes will include Foundations of Faith, led by The Rev. Dick Jenks, and Victorious Living, led by Scott Neff.

A prayer breakfast will be held at 9 a.m. Jan. 22. The guest speaker will be Nancy Bonnett, who will talk about recovering from abduction and rape.

FAITH U.P.

Those members of the Kids Club for children who are living at the Meadowbrook apartments will be picked up at 6:45 p.m. Wednesday at the apartments for activities at Faith United Presbyterian Church, 1329 N. Main St. A van will return children to the apartments at 8:30 p.m.

The deacons will host the Friday Night Party on Jan. 21 at the ARC.

FIRST BAPTIST

The Berean Sunday School Class of First Baptist Church, 221 W. New Castle St., will hold a soup and salad class social at 5 p.m. Saturday in the Baptist Youth Center.

FIRST U.M.

There will be no Ground Zero youth meeting Sunday at First United Methodist Church, 200 E. North St.

The youth retreat will be held Saturday through Monday at Camp Allegheny.

The youth ensemble will perform during the 10:50 a.m. Sunday service.

There will be no confirmation class on Sunday.

Members of Kidz Zone will spend an afternoon at Family Bowlaway from noon to 2 p.m. Monday. For information, call the church office.

Orientation for Financial Peace University will be held from 6 to 9 p.m. Monday in Epworth Center.

New member orientation will be held at 7 p.m. Tuesday in Wesley Hall.

FIRST ENGLISH LUTHERAN

The annual congregational meeting at First English Lutheran Church, 241 N. Main St., will follow the 11 a.m. Sunday service.

GLADE RUN U.P.

The annual Winter Retreat for students in grades 8 to 12 at Glade Run United Presbyterian Church, 1091 Pittsburgh Road, Valencia, will be held this weekend. They will leave the church at 7:35 a.m. Saturday and return Monday. For information, call Gloria at 724-898-2373.

A potluck dinner will be held at 6 p.m. Sunday. A prayer service will follow. Beverages and table service will be provided. Participants should take a dish to share.

There will be no youth group meeting on Sunday.

HILL U.P.

A time of contemporary worship and song will be held at the 6 p.m. Saturday service at Hill United Presbyterian Church, 501 Second St. Nursery care for children younger than three is available.

The Hillraisers Nurture Committee will host fellowship pancake breakfast from 8:30 to 10 a.m. Sunday.

MT. CHESTNUT PRESBY

The junior and senior high youth group of Mt. Chestnut Presbyterian Church, 727 Old West 422, will host a spaghetti dinner at noon Sunday to benefit the group's sponsored mission child.

NEW LIFE CHRISTIAN MINISTRIES

A day of prayer and fasting in preparation for the "Come, Let Us Build" journey will be held Tuesday. A time of corporate prayer will be at 7:30 p.m. at The Bridge, 102 Bay St., Penn Township. The fast will be broken with the celebration of the Lord's Supper at the end of prayer time.

NORTH MAIN ST. CHURCH OF GOD

The orchestra and choir of North Main Street Church of God, 1201 N. Main St. Ext., will resume Sunday morning rehearsals this week.

The new adult Sunday school class - More Jesus, Less Religion - will begin at 9:30 a.m. Sunday in Fellowship Hall 7.

The handbell choir will resume practice at 6 p.m. Monday in room 209.

A town meeting will be held at 7 p.m. Wednesday in the Fellowship Hall. Noah's Park will have a movie night for children age 4 through grade 5 at this time.

OLD UNION PRESBY

The youth group of Old Union Presbyterian Church, 200 Union Church Road, Mars, will go snow tubing Friday. Meet at the church at 6 p.m. Pick up time is 10:30 p.m. The cost is $8.

An African-style offering will be held this week.

The church growth team will meet after the Sunday worship service.

Anyone interested in being a greeter in January or February can sign up in the back of the church.

PARK U.P.

Park United Presbyterian Church, 115 E. Grandview Ave., Zelienople, will host its annual potluck dinner at 6:30 p.m. Wednesday. The annual congregational meeting will follow at 7:30 p.m.

SAINT ANDREWS U.P.

The Kid Krusaders of Saint Andrews United Presbyterian Church, 201 East Jefferson St., will meet for a movie and popcorn from 7 to 9 p.m. Saturday at the church. Refreshments will be provided.

The Kids in Christ Klub for students in preschool through sixth grade will meet from 4 to 6 p.m. Sunday at the church.

The youth group will leave for its ski trip Sunday and return Wednesday.

ST. JOHN U.C.C.

Wednesday practices for the adult bell choir and adult choir at St. John's United Church of Christ, 501 E. Main St., Evans City, have been moved to 6:15 and 7:15 p.m. respectively.

Articles for the church newsletter are due to the secretary's office by Sunday.

The annual youth ski trip to the Wilderness Lodge will be held Jan. 21-23.

ST. PETER'S EPISCOPAL

The commemoration of the potluck supper at St. Peter's Episcopal Church, 218 E. Jefferson St., will be at 6 p.m. Jan. 20. The Eucharist will follow at 7 p.m.

TRINITY LUTHERAN

The youth of Trinity Lutheran Church, 120 Sunset Dr., will participate in a lock-in from 11 p.m. Friday to 5 a.m. Saturday at the Butler YMCA, 339 N. Washington St.

A handbell concert featuring Bobbi Schmid and Ron Bellamy of the Bell a deux handbell choir will be held at 8 p.m. Saturday. A donation of $5 is requested.

TRINITY PRESBY

A service of ordination and installation for new church officers will be held Sunday at Trinity Presbyterian Church, 107 Staley Ave. A luncheon will follow the service.

Deacons and Elders will have a joint meeting after the luncheon on Sunday.

Volunteers from the church will serve the community meal from 5 to 6 p.m. Wednesday at Saint Andrew's United Presbyterian Church.

Veggie Tales will resume at 3 p.m. Sunday.

Nursery volunteers are needed during church services. A sign-up sheet is located in the narthex.
