Donald W. Minto

Donald W. Minto, a Pennsylvania State Constable, 51, of Lyndora, died at 7:50 a.m. Wednesday at his home after battling cancer.

Born Oct. 24, 1953, in Butler County, he was the son of Sylvia Ann Minto, and the late William Basil Minto.

He was Orthodox and Baptist.

Don had served as a Pennsylvania State Constable for the past 12 years. He spent a number of years at Butler Juvenile Probation. He was a highly respected and decorated member of the community. He received the MADD Award in 2001 for the individual most dedicated to their purpose, the Jefferson Award in 2002 and was nominated as most influential member of his community. He was the secretary of Butler County Constable Association, a member of the Odd Fellows and past president of the Butler County Law Enforcement Association. He organized and ran the group PATH, People Against Threats and Harassments for juveniles and adults. He received an award from U.S. Sen. Rick Santorum for this group and its efforts for the community.

Surviving are his wife of 25 years, Rebecca L. (Myers) Minto, whom he married July 4, 1979; his mother, Sylvia Ann Minto of Lyndora; three daughters, Mrs. Jerry (Heidi) Nagel of Chicora, Mrs. Mark (Holly) Villani of Butler and Donna Minto of Lyndora; three granddaughters, Whitney Emery and Jocelyn Nagel, both of Chicora and Isabella Villani of Butler. Also surviving are two brothers, William Minto and John Minto, both of Lyndora; and numerous nieces and nephews.

MINTO - Friends of Donald W. Minto, who died Wednesday, Dec. 1, 2004, will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday and Friday at GEIBEL FUNERAL HOME, 201 E. Cunningham St. Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at Whitestown Road Baptist Church, 409 Whitestown Road. The Rev. Floyd Hazen will officiate.
