Air Force Reserve Maj. Richard Sater
has been decorated with the Bronze Star Medal for supporting the mission of Operation Enduring Freedom.
The medal is awarded to an individual who, while serving in the armed forces, has performed a heroic act, meritorious achievement or distinguished service during armed conflict or ground combat while engaged against an armed enemy of the United States.
The major, a public affairs officer with 18 years of military service, is normally assigned to the Pacific Air Forces, Hickam Air Force Base, Honolulu, Hawaii.
He is the son of Richard and Dolores Sater of Butler.
He earned a master's degree in 1989 from Purdue University, West Lafayette, Ind.

Army Pvt. Jason Kaminski
has graduated from basic training at Fort Jackson, Columbia, S.C.
Kaminski's parents are Cindy and Michael Kaminski of Sarver.

Jason Hartman,
son of Rodney Hartman and Jill Ponterfield of Freeport, entered the Air Force's delayed entry program April 28 and shipped to basic training at Lackland Air Force Base, Texas, Dec. 14.
Hartman is a 2004 graduate of Lenape Area Vo-Tech School.

Air Force Airman 1st Class Melissa Moore
has graduated from basic training at Lackland Air Force Base, San Antonio, Texas.
She is the daughter of Amy Moore of Sarver.
Moore graduated in 2000 from Lenape Vocational-Technical School, Ford City, and received an associate degree in 2002 from the Newport Business Institute, Lower Burrell.

Air Force Airman 1st Class Leah McDonald
has graduated from basic training at Lackland Air Force Base, San Antonio, Texas.
She is the daughter of Bonny Lenz and Ralph McDonald, both of Butler, Pa.
McDonald graduated in 2001 from Butler High School and received an associate degree in 2004 from Butler County Community College.

has graduated from basic training at Lackland Air Force Base, San Antonio, Texas.
Hayes is the daughter of Douglas and Deborah Hayes of Butler.
In 2004, the airman graduated from Wesleyan Academy, Butler.

On Sept. 16, Army Pvt. 2 James Rajchel,
son of William and Theresa Rajchel of Chicora, graduated from basic training at Fort Jackson, S.C.
On Dec. 16, he graduated from training at Fort Bragg, N.C., as a psychological operations specialist in the intelligence division.
In January, he will begin ROTC training at Pittsburg State University in Kansas.
