Tyler Grossman scored 33 points and also grabbed 13 rebounds as the Moniteau boys basketball team claimed its first win of the season in the consolation game of the Quigley Catholic Tournament.
Matt Buczkowski added 18 points and 14 boards and Matt Schandelmeier also had 13 rebounds for Moniteau (1-10).

Josh Coburn placed second as the Butler wrestling team finished eighth out of 29 teams in the Southmoreland Tournament.Freshman Ian McLaughlin, who entered the tournament with eight wins - all by first-period pins - placed third in the tournament, losing to Dustin Haislip of Musselman (W.Va.) in the quarterfinals before coming back to defeat him 10-6 in the consolation final.McLaughlin is now 13-1 with 11 pins."He had pinned everyone going in, so we didn't know where he was," said Butler coach Scott Stoner. "He beat a solid kid from Greenville and came back and beat a wrestler who beat him earlier."Rob Runyan (103) placed sixth and Stew Rapone (135) and Matt Kalin (171) each placed seventh.Stoner was pleased with how his team fared."We won 10 out of 11 matches" on the first night, Stoner said. "We had a real strong streak going, then we lost a couple of close matches - we had five kids lose before the semis. If we would have won a couple of those, we could have gotten into the top four."Wheeling Park (W.Va.) Tournament- Matt Perri earned three pins - including one in just 24 seconds - and won another match by forfeit as the Mars wrestling team split its four matches at the Wheeling Park (W.Va.) Tournament Wednesday.Perri, a 112-pounder, kicked off the tournament with a pin in 24 seconds against Martinsburg as the Planets won 51-24.Mars also beat Parry McClure 59-17 before falling to Bellaire (Ohio) 44-33 and Ripley (W.Va.) 42-33.Adam Smetana (119) also won all four of his matches for the Planets.
