William 'Wild Bill' G. Kamerer Sr.

William "Wild Bill" G. Kamerer Sr., 77, of Butler died at 6:30 a.m. Thursday at his home.

Born July 10, 1927, in Bradys Bend, he was a son of David Edward and Bertha Rebecca Bowser Kamerer.

Mr. Kamerer was a member of the CB Rangers and, along with a friend, founded the Butler County React and Butler Area Alert. He also founded the Island Neighborhood Crime Watch.

He worked as a truck driver and mechanic for Chuck Martin Trucking and was a member of the Butler Area Street Machine Association, as he restored classic and antique automobiles.

Mr. Kamerer worked weekends for nine years helping at the Clearview Mall Flea Market and was known there as "Bargain Bill." He also helped Baglier Buick for years with its AutoFest and food drives for needy families.

He is survived by his wife, Helen Kamerer, whom he married Dec. 16, 1953; four daughters, Robin Leitch and Cheryl Browning, both of Panama City, Fla., Jacki Ewell of Slippery Rock and Patti Pulver of Butler; two sons, William Kamerer Jr. and Rich Kamerer, both of Butler; four sisters, Dorothy Caldwell of Fenelton, Anne Boyd of Ravenna, Ohio, and Rose Thompson and Mrs. David (Ida "Peg") Smith, both of Butler; three brothers, Tom Kamerer and Andy Kamerer, both of Butler, and Frank Kamerer of Grove City; 14 grandchildren; and 18 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by a sister and three brothers.

KAMERER - Friends of William "Wild Bill" G. Kamerer, who died Thursday, Nov. 25, 2004, will be received from 7 to 9 p.m. today and from 1 to 3 p.m. Saturday at YOUNG FUNERAL HOME, 127 W. Jefferson St., Butler. Services will be held at 3 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home with Sherry Cook officiating.
