Michael L. 'Mick' DiGiacomo

Michael L. "Mick" DiGiacomo, 86, of 258 Whippo Ave., died Friday at the Butler VA Medical Center after an illness.

Born March 11, 1918, in Butler, he was the son of Leonard and Mary Fossati DiGiacomo.

He was retired from the Armco shipping department after 24 years.

He was a Marine veteran of World War II and received a Purple Heart after serving in the Asiatic-Pacific theater.

Mr. DiGiacomo was an avid bowler and fisherman. He was a member of St. Michael the Archangel Roman Catholic Church, the Italian Society of Butler and Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 249.

He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Jacqueline Fogel DiGiacomo; a son, Thomas M. DiGiacomo of Butler; a daughter, Mrs. Dennis (Denise) Fillhart of Butler; 10 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by a brother, a grandson and a great-grandson.

DIGIACOMO - Friends of Michael L. DiGiacomo, who died Friday, Nov. 19, 2004, will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Monday at the MARTIN FUNERAL HOME, 429 Center Ave., Butler. A Mass of Christian burial will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday in St. Michael the Archangel Roman Catholic Church. The Rev. James Dolan will officiate. Burial will be in St. Michael Cemetery.The Bereavement Group of St. Michael the Archangel Parish will meet at 3 p.m. Monday at the funeral home for a scriptural wake service. Members of the VFW Post 249 will meet at 6:45 p.m. Monday at the funeral home for memorial services.
