RELIGIOUS ROUNDUP

BUTLER CHURCH OF THE NAZARENE

Millie Martsolf will provide music for the 10:45 a.m. Sunday service at Butler Church of the Nazarene, 4410 Oakdale Road and Route 68.

The Christmas Board will meet at 7 p.m. Tuesday in the parsonage. Refreshments will be served.

The Central Zone Ministers and Mates Christmas Dinner will be held at 6 p.m. Dec. 16 at Hermitage Gentle Shepherd Church. For reservations, contact Dave Morris or Miriam Weyman.

CHRIST COMMUNITY U.M.

New members will be received into the congregation during weekend services at Christ Community United Methodist Church, 205 N. Duffy Road.

Orders for poinsettias to decorate the sanctuary will be accepted at the church office through Friday.

An Extra Effort Food Collection will be held this weekend for Covenant Food Cupboard. Donations of non-perishable food can be dropped off in the narthex.

Christmas caroling will begin at noon Sunday. A pizza party at the church will follow.

Blood pressure screenings will be held after weekend worship services.

Members are asked to honor church workers through the annual Giving Tree. Gift items of new children's clothing and toiletries are being collected for Children and Youth Services. Mission Shares may be purchased as gifts for members participating in the upcoming mission trip. Gift tags and instructions are near the tree.

Sojourner, the contemporary praise chorus, is seeking members to participate in the Christmas Eve service. Practice will begin at 6:15 p.m. today.

The annual staff/volunteer luncheon will be at 12:30 p.m. Tuesday at Dingbat's restaurant. Call the church office for reservations.

CHRIST'S OUTREACH

The third week of Advent will be celebrated at the 7 p.m. Saturday and 8:45 and 10:30 a.m. Sunday services at Christ's Outreach Church, 120 Walker Ave.

Condensed 45-minute services held at 8:45 a.m. Sundays will now be a permanent part of the church ministry. For information, call the church office at 724-283-8407.

Tammy Summers, Jenny Taylor and Amanda Sybert will provide music for the 10:30 a.m. Sunday service.

This weekend marks the final collection for the missionary Christmas offering.

The choir will present "Celebrate the Gift" at 6 p.m. Sunday at the church. A pre-cantata will be performed by the Tom Walker Family.

The Happy Lunch Bunch will attend the Christmas program at 11:30 a.m. Dec. 16 at A Step Back In Time. Cost is $10. For reservations, call or visit the church office.

COVENANT PRESBY

The Annual Church Family Christmas Dinner will begin at 5 p.m. Saturday at Covenant Presbyterian Church, 230 E. Jefferson St. The church will provide the entrée. Members should take a side dish or dessert to share.

Krista Shinew will perform modern works for the organ at the Advent Recital at 4 p.m. Sunday in the sanctuary. The event is open to the community.

Kang-Yup Na, professor of religion at Westminster College, will lead the Seekers Class, which meets at 9:45 a.m. Sunday in the Assembly Room.

CRESTVIEW COMMUNITY PRESBYTERIAN

A Come in Out of the Cold service will be held at 10:30 a.m. Sunday at Crestview Community Presbyterian Church, 210 Kline Ave., Callery. A catered luncheon will follow. For luncheon reservations, call 724-538-8559.

EAU CLAIRE PRESBYERIAN

Alan Adams, new executive presbyter, will lead the 11 a.m. Sunday service this week at Eau Claire Presbyterian Church, Eau Claire. Advent and Holy Communion will also be observed.

A potluck dinner and Advent entertainment will be held at 6 p.m. Wednesday at Faith United Presbyterian Church, 1329 N. Main St. Ext.

FIRST BAPTIST

The Berean Sunday School Class of First Baptist Church, 221 W. New Castle St., will hold a Christmas banquet at 6 p.m. today at the Homestead Restaurant, 1280 Prospect Road, Prospect.

Christmas Strings, a concert featuring violinist Todd Wentworth and harpist Nicole McAllister, will be held at 7 p.m. Friday in the church sanctuary. A Kidz Corner question-and-answer session with Wentworth and McAllister will begin 45 minutes prior to the concert.

The teen youth group will take part in a Christmas party from 5 to 8:30 p.m. Saturday at the home of Jeff and Susan Cumberland.

Children age 4 through grade six will present the Christmas program, "A Special Delivery," at 6 p.m. Sunday in the sanctuary.

FIRST U.M.

Advent dress rehearsal will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday at First United Methodist Church, 200 E. North St.

The Financial Peace University Orientation will be held at noon Sunday and 6:30 p.m. Monday in the main sanctuary.

Advent Family Night will be held at 7 p.m. Sunday in the main sanctuary. Due to this event, there will be no FROGS meeting Sunday.

FIRST ENGLISH LUTHERAN

Holy Communion will be held at the 10:30 a.m. Sunday service at First English Lutheran Church, 241 N. Main St.

Congregational caroling to shut-ins will be held Sunday. Participants should meet at 2:30 p.m. at the church. Donations of cookies also are being sought for the event and should be dropped off at the church prior to or the morning of the event.

A confirmation breakfast will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday.

GLADE RUN U.P.

A family Christmas program will be held at 6 p.m. Sunday at Glade Run United Presbyterian Church, 1091 Pittsburgh Road, Valencia. Refreshments will follow.

Members of the mission team will leave for the East Liberty Soup Kitchen at 8:30 a.m. Saturday. New socks are being collected for the shelter.

Sunday is the deadline to order poinsettias. Contact the church office to place orders. The cost is $6 per plant.

Church ornaments are available at the church office. The cost is $5.

HILL U.P.

The Memorial Handbell Choir will perform at the 10:30 a.m. Sunday service at Hill United Presbyterian Church, 501 Second St.

A Christmas Mourning Service will be held at 4 p.m. Sunday at the church. The service, which is open to the community, is offered to comfort those who are grieving during the Christmas season. For information, call 724-287-5427.

Students in grades 7-12 will meet at 9:15 a.m. Sunday to prepare bag lunches for the community.

Students in grades 5-12 will meet from 6:45 to 8 p.m. Sunday for cookies and caroling. Parent volunteers are needed to chaperone. Cookie donations are needed and can be left at the church before Sunday morning.

The youth will meet for a release game night at 7:30 p.m. Saturday. Adults who plan to help supervise should contact John Porter.

Reservations for the Dec. 19 Christmas dinner are due Sunday. Participating families should take two dozen cookies to share. The meal will be provided by the nurture committee.

A senior night out will be held at 5:30 p.m. Tuesday. Reservations are due Sunday.

MERIDIAN U.P.

The children's choir of Meridian United Presbyterian Church, 4150 Highland Ave., will sing during the Sunday morning service.

MOUNT CHESTNUT PRESBY

"The Voices of Christmas" cantata will be performed at 7:30 p.m. Friday at Mount Chestnut Presbyterian Church, 727 Old West 422. The cantata will also be performed at the 11 a.m. Sunday service.

The third Sunday of Advent will be observed during the weekend services.

MUDDY CREEK U.P.

The Cross and Crown will sponsor a tureen holiday dinner at 5:30 p.m. Friday at Muddy Creek United Presbyterian Church, 341 Muddy Creek Drive. The event will feature a performance by the Mountain Railroad group.

Christmas caroling will begin at 12:50 p.m. Saturday at the church.

NEW LIFE CHRISTIAN MINISTRIES

The children and youth of New Life Christian Ministries, Knoch School Auditorium, 345 Knoch Road, Saxonburg, will present "Cradle to Crown" at 10 a.m. Sunday. The public is invited.

NORTH MAIN STREET CHURCH OF GOD

The third week of Advent will be celebrated during the 10:30 a.m. Sunday service at North Main Street Church of God, 1201 N. Main St. Ext. Luther and Fanny Alkire will light the Shepherds' Candle.

The Living Christmas Tree will perform at 10:30 a.m. Sunday in the sanctuary. Due to the performance, there will be no Java with Jesus on Sunday.

Women's Word Share will hold a Christmas Brunch at 9:45 a.m. Tuesday in the Parlor. Cost is $8 and child care will be provided.

A Christmas party for children age 4 through grade 5 will be held at 6:45 p.m. Wednesday in Noah's Park.

A Christmas party for youth will be held at 7 p.m. Wednesday in the Haven.

Members of the Wednesday night adult Bible study will have a Christmas party at 7 p.m. Wednesday in the Parlor.

PARK U.P.

The children's ministry of Park United Presbyterian Church, East Grandview Ave., Zelienople, will present a Christmas pageant during the 11 a.m. Sunday service. The bell choir will also perform during the service.

SAINT ANDREWS U.P.

The Abba Kids Choir of Saint Andrews United Presbyterian Church, 201 East Jefferson St., will present the program, "Shine Jesus Shine," at the 10 a.m. Sunday service. Advent coffee time will follow in the memorial room.

ST. JOHN LUTHERAN

The congregation of St. John Lutheran Church, 420 Beaver St., Mars, will meet after the Sunday morning service to decorate the church for the holidays. Food will be available.

The children of the church will present their Christmas program at 7 p.m. Dec. 19. A social hour will follow.

ST. JOHN U.C.C.

The choirs of St. John's United Church of Christ, 501 E. Main St., Evans City, will present a "Sermon in Song" at the 11 a.m. Sunday service.

Gifts for the giving tree are due Sunday in the narthex.

ST. RICHARD R.C.

The youth ministry of St. Richard Roman Catholic Church, 3841 Dickey Road, Gibsonia, will host a free morning with Santa from 10 a.m. to noon Saturday. An offering will be received at the event.

The Family Focus on Christmas program will be held from 6:30 to 8 p.m. Sunday, 4:30 to 6 p.m. Tuesday and 6:45 to 8:15 p.m. Wednesday. Faith Formation students and their families should attend one of these sessions.

A baptism preparation class for parents will be held at 7:45 p.m. Tuesday.

An Advent Reconciliation Service will be held at 7 p.m. Dec. 16. Confession will be available after the service.

TRINITY LUTHERAN

The youth of Trinity Lutheran Church, 120 Sunset Drive, will meet to make fudge at 9 a.m. Sunday.

A congregational meeting will follow the 11 a.m. Sunday service.

Sunday is the last day to order poinsettias.

TRINITY PRESBYTERIAN

Volunteers from Trinity Presbyterian Church, 107 Staley Ave., will serve the community meal from 5 to 6 p.m. Wednesday at Saint Andrew's United Presbyterian Church.

Donations of flour and rice are being accepted this month for the Covenant Food Cupboard. Donations can be placed in the narthex.

WHITE OAK SPRINGS PRESBY

Members of the White Oak Springs Presbyterian Church, 102 Shannon Road, Renfrew, will host an open house beginning with the 9:45 a.m. service on Sunday. Fellowship and refreshments will follow.
