Clarence B. McCandless
Clarence B. McCandless, 73, of Unionville Road died Friday evening at his family farm.
Born Feb. 19, 1931, on the farm in Center Township, he was the son of Blair B. and Mabel Dawson McCandless.
He has been a farmer since the age of 7 and learned to farm with his uncle, Stanley McCandless. On Nov. 26, 1996, he and his uncle were awarded the 200-Century Landholders in Butler County distinction. He was the third generation to farm the same land and was a member of the Butler County Farm Bureau.
Mr. McCandless was a Presbyterian. He and his wife were avid NASCAR fans and went to several races a year.
Suriviving are his wife, B. Donna Eakin McCandless, whom he married Sept. 28, 1951; four sons, David McCandless of Hilliards, Ronny McCandless of Fawn Grove, York County, Robert McCandless of Franklin Township and Lee McCandless of Center Township; a daughter, Mrs. Richard (Darla) Marks of Franklin Township; a brother, Darrell McCandless of Franklin Township; a sister: Mrs. Jimmy (Helen Blanche) Tribby of Mesa, Ariz.; 14 grandchildren; and a number of nieces and nephews.
A son, a grandson and a sister preceded him in death.
McCANDLESS - Friends of Clarence B. McCandless, who died Friday, Nov. 5, 2004, will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday at EDWARD L. RAISLEY FUNERAL HOME, 387 Main St., Prospect. The funeral service will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.
