Esther Lucille Fleeger

Esther Lucille Fleeger, 88, of Chicora, formerly of Muddy Creek and Butler, died at 11 p.m. Sunday at Sunnyview Nursing Home.

Born Jan. 24, 1916, in Adams Township, she was a daughter of Thomas and Earla Hughes Critchlow.

She was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Through her church service as Sunday school teacher, all of her male students served missions for the church and held leadership positions.

She enjoyed gardening and loved flowers. She had devoted many hours to the Muddycreek and Keister 4-H clubs as a leader and judge at the Butler fair and farm shows. She also sold Amway and Shaklee Products. She had been a food-service worker for the Moniteau School District and retired from the dietary department of the Butler Veterans Affairs Medical Center after 21 years.

Surviving are four daughters, Mrs. Jim (Janet Wilson) Leinenbach and Carol Ann Hubbell, both of Butler, Mrs. Collins (Kay) Cannon of Kearney, Mo., and Mrs. Gene (Nancy) Herman of Racine, Wis.; 14 grandchildren, George and Diana Wilson, Wally and Mary Wilson, George and Kim Patrick and Jesse and NaDesha Hubbell, all of Butler, Duff and Pam Turner of West Jordan, Utah, Jeff and Patty Wilson of Kittanning, Gayla Cannon of San Jose, Calif., Erik and Cami Cannon of Atlanta, Douglas Cannon of Boston, Scott Cannon of St. Louis, Amy Cannon of Kansas City, Mo., and Bob and Robin Quam, Michael and Rena Peterson and Regena Herman, all of Racine, Wis.; 16 great grandchildren, LeGrand Wilson of Atlanta, Dacia Wilson, Andrew, Ashley and Joshua Wilson, Richard Patrick and Addington Hubbell, all of Butler, Katrina Trimble and Clifford and Sherston Turner, all of West Jordan, Melissa Meeks of Columbus, Robert and Sarah Quam, Nikki Garcia, Erin and Emila Petersen, all of Racine; and two great-grandsons, Peyton and Samuel Meeks of Columbus.

She also is survived by four sisters, Goldie Critchlow and Jane Leinenbach, both of Butler and Dorie Nicklas and Louise Benoit, both of Evans City.

She was preceded in death by a grandson, two brothers and three sisters.

FLEEGER - Friends of Esther Lucille Fleeger, who died Sunday, Oct. 24, 2004, will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Friday atYOUNG FUNERAL HOME, 127 W. Jefferson St.. Services will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. Elder Erik Cannon, her grandson, will officiate.
