Karns City graduate Ariel Venesky, a freshman guard on the Thiel College women's basketball team, led the Tomcats with 12 points and eight rebounds in Saturday's 72-44 loss to Calvin College.

Seneca Valley graduate Ashley Greene, a junior on the Slippery Rock University women's tennis team, finished the fall season ranked No. 3 in the Intercollegiate Tennis Association's Eastern Region doubles with partner Ashley Michaux.Greene and then-partner Kelly Anderson were ranked third last year.

Grove City College junior cross country runner Elisa Pedersen earned All-American honors at the NCAA Division III Cross Country Championships held Saturday at the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire.Pedersen placed 16th in the 211-runner field to become the first Grove City College women's cross country runner to attain All-American status.A three-time Presidents' Athletic Conference champion, Pedersen finished seventh at the NCAA Mideast Regional at Allegheny College a week ago.

The FCA All-Star Cheerleaders competed in the Americheer International Regional at Springdale High School last week.All four of its teams placed first and will advance to the upcoming 2005 International Nationals in Florida.Pink Ice (2nd grade and under) won the Youth Prep Division, Turquoise (6th grade and under) won the Small Junior Prep Division, Tanzanites (9th grade and under) the Large Junior Division and Diamonds (grades 5-11) in Power Varsity Division.The Diamonds also won the Grand Championship Trophy for the highest score competing against all-star girls, all-star co-eds, high school and dance squads.The next FCA All-Stars competition will be at Slippery Rock University Dec. 5.
