William F. Browning

William F. Browning, 80, of North Main Street died at 2 a.m. Friday at his home after a long illness with cancer.

Born Feb. 15, 1924, in Scottdale, he was the son of Frank and Ruth Long Browning.

He was a crane operator and a member of Local 137 of the International Union of Operating Engineers, New York.

Mr. Browning was a member of Saint Andrews United Presbyterian Church. He also belonged to Philipstown Lodge 236 F&AM and the Valley of White Plains Consistory in New York.

During World War II, he served in Europe with the Army's 71st Infantry Division.

He is survived by a step-grandson; a step-granddaughter; a brother, Robert Browning; and a number of nieces and nephews.

His wife, Lila M. Browning, died Nov. 9, 2002. Two sisters also preceded him in death.

BROWNING - A memorial service for William F. Browning, who died Friday, Oct. 15, 2004, will be held at 1 p.m. Thursday atTHOMPSON-MILLER FUNERAL HOME,124 E. North St., with the Rev. Kate Filer, his church pastor, officiating. Burial will be at Rockland Cemetery, Venango County.Memorial contributions may be made to Meals on Wheels, 218 E.
