Reepmeyer sparkles, but SRU falls to Ashland

Glenn Reepmeyer had 18 points and nine rebounds to lead the Slippery Rock University men's basketball team, but Ashland (Ohio) University came away with a 71-61 victory Thursday.

The Rock (0-1) led 34-33 at halftime.

Bill Johnson added 14 points, five rebounds and six steals, and Jason Bratten had 10 points and six rebounds for SRU.

Ashland (2-0) was led by Michael Fowler, who had 20 points, including 15 on 5-of-6 shooting from 3-point range.

Greg Emmons added 17 points and 10 rebounds and Kevin Shorter added 10 points.

Matt Lobaugh had 24 points and Butler High grad Joel Rehm added 20, but BC3 dropped a 72-71 decision to CCAC-South Thursday.

A free throw with 2.7 seconds remaining broke a 71-all tie.

The Pioneers (2-1) will return to action today at 5 p.m. when they face Pitt-Titusville in the WPCC Tip-Off Tournament at CCAC-South.
