LaVerne A. McCauley

LaVerne A. McCauley, 74, of Parker died Monday at the Clarion Hospital after an illness.

Born Feb. 16, 1930, in Duke Center, he was the son of Daniel Webster and Cleo Winkler McCauley.

He had worked most of his life as a driller in the oil and gas fields of Pennsylvania and other states.

Mr. McCauley was a Protestant. He was a life member of the Allegheny-Clarion Valley Sportsmen Association of Perryville and a former member of the Parker City Volunteer Fire Department.

He was a member of the Parker Rotary for more than 35 years and had a 100 percent attendance record. He had been treasurer of the club and had served as president many times. He frequently represented Parker at the District 7280 Annual Conferences.

Mr. McCauley was a collector of antique canning jars and other glassware. He had taken classes on the art of mixing herbs and spices to maintain health.

He is survived by his wife, Freda I. Butcher McCauley, whom he married Sept. 2, 1948; a daughter, Mrs. Rockne (Naomi) Barber of Hendersonville; three sons, LaVerne A. McCauley Jr., of Townville, Daniel McCauley of Plano, Texas, and Henry McCauley of Franklin; 11 grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews; two sisters, Eunice Haynes of Senaca and Lois Baldwin of California; three brothers, Daniel McCauley of Baltimore, Md., Paul McCauley of Venuf and Jim McCauley of New Jersey.

He was preceded in death by a sister.

McCAULEY - Friends of LaVerne A. McCauley, who died Monday, Oct. 11, 2004, will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday at H. JACK BUZARD FUNERAL HOME, Wayne Street, Parker. Services will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday in the funeral home. Interment will be in St. Petersburg Cemetery.
