RELIGIOUS ROUNDUP

BELOVED DISCIPLE

The Beloved Disciple Church, 321 N. Broad St., Grove City, will host a meeting at 6:30 p.m. Nov. 18 in the Religious Education Building, 309 N. Broad St. The discussion will focus on getting through the holiday season after the loss of loved ones. Light refreshments will be served.

BUTLER CHURCH OF THE NAZARENE

The Caravan Kids Club of Butler Church of The Nazarene, 4410 Oakdale Road and Route 68, will host a hayride and bonfire at 6 p.m. Friday at Schramm's Farm Market, 291 Crisswell Road. Cost is $3.50 per person and refreshments will be provided. Participants in need of transportation should contact the church office.

Chrisann Green and Krystal McIndoe will provide music for the 10:45 a.m. Sunday service.

CALVARY TEMPLE

The Rev. Phil Paino of Carroll Road Christian Church in Fort Wayne, Ind., will be the guest speaker at Sunday services at Calvary Temple Worship Center, Route 422 West, Sampson Street Extension, New Castle.

CHAPEL ON THE HILL

A World Mission's Convention will be held Nov. 14 to 17 at Chapel on the Hill, Route 208 west of Emlenton. The Rev. Jeff Friedman, missionary to the Jewish people in Philadelphia, will be the speaker at the Sunday morning services.

Dr. Mike and Tillie Waldner will share their vision for South Asia at the 6:30 p.m. Sunday service.

The annual Mission's Banquet will be at 6:30 p.m. Monday at the church. Speakers will be the Rev. David and Celia Olson, World Media missionaries. Participants should take an international dish to share.

The Rev. Fred and Betty Howsare will be the speakers at the 7 p.m. Tuesday service.

The Rev. Kevin and Annie Folk, a missionary couple assigned to Spain, will be the guest speakers at the 7 p.m. Wednesday service.

CHRIST COMMUNITY U.M.

The youth group of Christ Community United Methodist Church, 205 N. Duffy Road, will attend the annual Fall Retreat at Camp Wesley Woods from Friday through Sunday.

CHRIST'S OUTREACH

COVENANT PRESBY

Sunday is Pledge Dedication Sunday at Covenant Presbyterian Church, 230 E. Jefferson St.

Professor Marie Baird, of the Department of Religion at Duquesne University, will lead the Seekers Class at 9:45 a.m. Sunday in the Assembly Room.

Members of the Seekers Class are invited to the Pohmer home in Forest Heights at 6 p.m. Sunday for a presentation by Timothy Pohmer, retired professor of psychology and philosophy at Butler County Community College.

Members may sign up during the noon Fellowship House to provide gifts and to bring turkey and cookies for the children and families who use Covenant Cupboard Food Bank.

The Kid Krusader Halloween party will be at 6 p.m. Nov. 16 at Saint Andrews United Presbyterian Church.

EAST UNITY PRESBY

The annual Thank-Offering service will be held at 10 a.m. Sunday at East Unity Presbyterian Church, East Unity Road, Emlenton. The guest speaker will be Chrissy Greenwell, a missionary to Mexico with the World Gospel Missions. The Eau Claire Presbyterian Church will also participate in the service.

FIRST BAPTIST

On Saturday, First Baptist Church, 221 W. New Castle St., will host the annual Thanksgiving service of the Association of Independent Baptist Churches of Western Pennsylvania. The opening session begins at 1:30 p.m. and a Thanksgiving dinner will be served at 4:30 p.m.

The Rev. Dan Kaminski, senior pastor of Grace Baptist Church in Kittanning, will be the speaker for the opening session and the Rev. Jonathan Hill, of Union Baptist Church in Kittanning, will be the speaker at the second session. The Rev. Dave Maitland, senior pastor of First Baptist, will share an update of Slippery Rock Baptist Camp. A special offering will taken to assist First Baptist Church of Evans City with its flood damage.

Women of the Kingdom Seekers Sunday school will participate in a craft night at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday at the Baptist Youth Center.

FIRST U.M.

A rehearsal for participants in the Advent presentation will be held from 10 a.m. to noon Saturday in the main sanctuary at First United Methodist Church, 200 E. North St.

The Mission Group of Glade Run United Presbyterian Church, 1091 Pittsburgh Road, Valencia, will meet at 8:30 a.m. Saturday to go to the East Liberty Soup Kitchen.

GRACE LUTHERAN

In celebration of Harvest Home Sunday, donations for the Luther's Table community meal program will be collected this Sunday.

HILL U.P.

The Kingdom Ringers youth handbell choir will perform at the 10:30 a.m. Sunday Harvest Home service at Hill United Presbyterian Church, 501 Second St.

Second Saturday movies for students in preschool through grade 6 will be shown from 1:30 to 4:30 p.m. Saturday in the fellowship hall. Admission is free and snacks will be available for purchase.

Students in grades 7 to 12 will meet at 9:15 a.m. Sunday to prepare bag lunches for the community.

The women's book discussion group will be led by Jenny Jamieson from 1 to 2:30 p.m. Monday in the adult lounge.

Donations of fresh food items, such as potatoes, carrots and apples, will be collected this week for the Harvest Home food collection.

MERIDIAN U.P.

A congregational meeting will be held after the Sunday service at Meridian United Presbyterian Church, 4150 Highland Ave. A lunch will follow in McCaslin Hall.

The deadline for articles for December Light of Meridian is Nov. 17.

MT. CHESTNUT PRESBY

Operation Christmas Child shoeboxes will be dedicated at the 8:45 and 11 a.m. Sunday services at Mount Chestnut Presbyterian Church, 727 Old West 422. Donations of gift-filled shoeboxes will be collected this weekend.

The Kid's Club for students in preschool through sixth grade will now meet from 6 to 7:30 p.m. Wednesdays.

Deacons and Session members will hold a combined meeting at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday.

NEW LIFE CHRISTIAN MINISTRIES

Members of New Life Christian Ministries, Knoch School Auditorium, 345 Knoch Road, Saxonburg, who plan to donate filled shoeboxes for the Samaritan's Purse Operation should take them to the church Sunday for dedication during the service.

NORTH MAIN STREET CHURCH OF GOD

The youth group of North Main Street Church of God, 1201 N. Main St. Ext., will host a bake sale before and after the 10:30 a.m. Sunday service to raise money for upcoming trips.

Tickets are available in the church office for the Living Christmas Tree, which will be held at 7 p.m. Dec. 9, 10 and 11 and at 10:30 a.m. Dec. 12.

The Living Christmas Tree Choir will rehearse at 7 p.m. Tuesday in the sanctuary.

OLD UNION PRESBY

At 7 p.m. today, Old Union Presbyterian Church, 200 Union Church Road, Mars, will wrap up their study of the six essential elements for a successful church financial stewardship.

The congregational meeting will follow the Sunday worship service. A fellowship dinner will follow. Participants should take a dish to pass.

Fruit and nut orders are due Nov. 28.

PARK UNITED PRESBY

Members of Park United Presbyterian Church, 115 E. Grandview Ave., Zelienople, will participate in a joint worship service at 7 p.m. Nov. 24 at Camp Run Presbyterian Church in Fombell. A reception and fellowship time will follow.

SLIPPERY ROCK U.M.

The King's Daughters of Slippery Rock United Methodist, Franklin and Maple streets, will host their fall Bazaar from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday in the fellowship hall. The United Methodist Women will serve a luncheon from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.

The choir will host a soup and sandwich luncheon after the 11 a.m. Sunday service.

The Slippery Rock University Gospel Choir will perform at the Praise Café on Friday.

ST. MARK'S EVANGELICAL LUTHERAN

The 10 a.m. Sunday service will be the only service this Sunday at St. Mark's Evangelical Lutheran Church, 201 W. Jefferson St. The annual congregational meeting will follow at 11 a.m. for the selection of council members and budget approval.

Jehoiada Chest Sunday will be recognized this week. Offerings will be accepted for the upkeep or improvement of church facilities.

TRINITY LUTHERAN

Acolyte training will be held after the 11 a.m. service Sunday at Trinity Lutheran Church, 120 Sunset Drive.

A carnival for children will be held from 3 to 5 p.m. Sunday. The event will include food, games and prizes for children in the sixth grade and younger.

TRINITY PRESBY

A congregational meeting will follow the Sunday service this week at Trinity Presbyterian Church, 107 Staley Ave. Officers will be elected and the terms of call for the pastor will be approved.

Donations of 2005 calendars for patients at the Butler Veterans Affairs Medical Center can be left in the church office.

Volunteers from the church will serve the community meal from 5 to 6 p.m. Wednesday at Saint Andrew's United Presbyterian Church.

The choir will participate in a concert of music saluting veterans beginning at 7:30 p.m. Sunday at Meridian United Presbyterian Church.

Noodles and tuna are being collected for the Covenant Food Cupboard during November.

VALENCIA PRESBY

Communion will be celebrated Sunday at Valencia Presbyterian Church, 80 Sterrett St., Valencia. A congregational meeting in Fellowship Hall will follow the service.

WHITE OAK SPRINGS PRESBY

A congregational meeting for officer election and budget review will follow the 9:45 a.m. Sunday service at White Oak Springs Presbyterian Church, 102 Shannon Road, Renfrew.
