Anna Daugherty of Butler celebrated her 98th birthday recently with a family gathering at Slippery Rock Park.

The former Anna Christie was born Oct. 27, 1906, in Concord Township. She married Anthony Daugherty on Feb. 6, 1929. He is deceased.

She has 10 children, Dorothy Snyder of Parker; Marian Strong of Royersford; Anna Sweeney and Doris Stephenson, both of Butler; Edward Daugherty of Plattsburgh, N.Y.; Betty McClimans of Cincinnati; Donna Weiland of Miami; James Daugherty of Ishpeming, Mich.; Margaret Brainard of Champion, Ohio; and Mary Jane Furey of Fenelton. A son, Anthony Daugherty is deceased.

She also has 27 grandchildren, more than 30 great-grandchildren and 6 great-great-grandchildren.

Mrs. Daugherty is a homemaker and a member of St. Joseph Roman Catholic Church in North Oakland.
