11:12 p.m. Friday - Donald Snyder, 43, of 115 Morton Ave. was arrested on a domestic relations warrant at his home.6:34 p.m. Friday - Glen E. Schreffler, 40, of 406 Wayne St. tried to escape as he was being taken to Butler County Prison.He was arrested at 4:47 p.m. Friday after his girlfriend, Tracy Toner, 37, of 605 W. Penn St. told police Schreffler had assaulted her at her home.Schreffler already had an outstanding warrant for his arrest. He was arraigned by District Justice Kelley Streib and was sent to the county prison on $10,000 bond for the original warrant and $5,000 bond for the aggravated assault charge for hitting Toner.While Schreffler was being taken to the prison, he broke away from an officer and ran into the tier garage near the prison. From there he ran on West Cunningham Street, North Washington Street and Birch Street before running behind some buildings.Schreffler then crossed West Cunningham Street again and hid behind District Justice Pete Shaffer's office where police caught him.He was arraigned a second time before Streib and is in prison on an additional $100,000 bond for trying to escape.1:15 a.m. Friday - William Raub, 18, of Slippery Rock was cited for underage consumption of alcohol following a traffic stop on East Cunningham Street. Raub was a passenger in the car.3:54 p.m. Thursday - Vehicles driven by Wanda Rogers, 51, of 140 Woodbine Lane and Kelly Swanberg, 18, of 120 Cottage Ave. collided on West New Castle Street.7:42 p.m. Tuesday - Vehicles driven by Fawn Wise, 19, of 105 W. Boyd St. and Brian Osche, 16, of 139 Kaiser Road collided on Center Avenue.Tuesday - Walter Crocker, 45, of 459 W. Cunningham St. was arrested and charged with passing a bad check for $509.25 at Kerle Tire in Clarion.
Wednesday - A Butler man was one of two people arrested by township police in connection to a series of retail thefts involving cigarettes from various stores.Jared McClure Grafton, 27, of 115 Beck Road and Sherman Stephen Jones, 26, of Pittsburgh were arrested and charged with retail theft and criminal conspiracy.Employees from Sheetz on Evans City Road, Good Guyz on Whitestown Road, 3 B's Tobacco and Eckerd Drugs, both of Point Plaza and Eckerd Drugs in the Greater Butler Mart told police cartons of cigarettes had been stolen from those businesses.A total of 21 cartons of cigarettes valued at $944 were stolen from the five businesses.Employees were able to provide descriptions that were similar and in some instances video surveillance provided photographs of the suspects.District Justice Wayne Seibel arraigned both men. Jones was placed in the county prison in lieu of $6,000 cash bond and Grafton was placed in there in lieu of $2,000 cash bond. A preliminary hearing has been scheduled for both men on Nov. 4.
6 a.m. Friday - Carl Schmidt, 55, of Fenelton reported someone stole a Brinkman stainless steel grill from his property at 196 Game Reserve Road in Clearfield Township.1:27 a.m. Friday - George Johnson, 26, of West Falls, N.Y., was traveling north on Interstate 79 in Jackson Township when his 1997 Dodge Neon struck a deer. Johnson was wearing a seatbelt and was not injured.8:59 p.m. Thursday - A pickup truck driven by Kasey Williamson, 28, of Apollo struck a pickup truck driven by Joy Cross, 42, of Parker on Route 268 in Allegheny Township after Cross had pulled off to the side of the road.5:57 p.m. Thursday - Michael Speicher, no age given, of 100 Elmwood Lane was taken into custody on a warrant. While serving the warrant, state police found Speicher to have a small amount of marijuana and paraphernalia. Speicher is in the county prison awaiting a preliminary hearing.1:20 p.m. Wednesday - Amy Dittmer, 28, of 112 Dalmagro Road reported someone entered her home during the day and removed a Sony Play Station and about 25 games valued at $1,000.7:30 p.m. Oct. 20 - Tiffany Baptiste, 29, of East Butler told police Russell F. Baptiste Jr., 29, of East Butler pushed her out of a moving vehicle near their residence on Old East Butler Road in Oakland Township.Russell Baptiste was arrested and charged with aggravated assault, recklessly endangering another person, simple assault and harassment and placed in the county prison.12:44 p.m. June 30 - Robin Lynn Haas, 48, of Cheswick was charged with giving a false report to a law enforcement agency after state police learned he provided them with a false name.
8:15 p.m. Thursday - A vehicle driven by Stephanie Ralette, 18, of Butler collided with a deer on Route 28 in South Buffalo Township. Ralette was wearing a seatbelt and was not injured. The deer was killed.
5:45 p.m. Friday - Vehicles driven by Erin Dunkerly, 19, of Utica and Kenneth Beatty III, 18, of Zelienople collided on Route 173 in Wolf Creek Township. The drivers and all of their passengers were wearing their seatbelts and no one was hurt.9:05 p.m. Wednesday - A vehicle driven by Brian Ray, no age given, of Grove City struck a deer that jumped out onto Route 208 in Springfield Township. Ray and his three passengers were wearing seatbelts and no one was hurt.
